Senior looking to conquer long par 4's and par 5's

Not a single person here has given the most correct and fun answer: learn to hit driver off the deck.

Few things outside the bedroom can give you that oh so special feeling that comes from hitting a screamer off the short grass. Its the specialty of a few of the older guys I play with and the couple times I've tried and succeeded it's like getting ready for a camping trip, if you know what I mean.

Same issue here. Just starting this strategy. Play to the 100 yard marker in two. Then use a full swing on a short iron on the green. On par 4 putting for par, 2 putt for bogey and on par 5 putting for birdie, 2 putt for par. I am hoping this will impact the mental side of the game on two points, 1) takes pressure off hitting the driver as long as possible, with likely loss of accuracy, 2) takes pressure off 2nd shot too. Played by myself last Saturday, front nine using normal strategy of hitting as far as possible and back nine with new strategy. Better score on back nine. So, play the second shot to a distance you hit a full swing short iron you have confidence with (9 iron, PW, GW, etc.) Likely you're in the fairway vs in rough, but closer, which takes pressure off hitting delicate pitch/chip shots. It is an option if you don't want to move up tees.

Good luck and I wish you success in your adventure. Being a soccer player I know your in great shape as few realize what it takes to play soccer. Have you tried weighting your clubs to gain more length? The concept is that you add weight to the heads to gain more flex in the shafts and higher ball impact. I think your irons are about maxed out, but the other clubs might benefit. I am trying it on my P790 and it seems to work. I have a swing weight tool and lead tape is cheap. Just MOI your clubs to that buttery Mizuno impact feel.

Improve your short game, saving par should be a premium, if you can not reach the green in regulation, and make putts. Except your weaknesses, but play to your strengths. Check out

Been fit twice so I'm pretty comfortable with my specs. Hey, when you're a senior, other than a lighter shaft, there's not much else to do. Lie and length were also adjusted when ordered.

> I found something that, if tonight's session at the range proves to work on the course, should help a bunch. It has to do with the angle of your left wrist (assuming a right handed golfer). I've read about this before, but made a little change to my swing tonight and it did two things. 1. Not even the hint of a slice (which eats distance). 2. More distance than I've seen before from every club in the bag. Took a while to get that angle in my left wrist corrected, but wow, what a difference. This little swing change and improved distance will help more than any club change I could make. I have a video that I found if anyone wants to view it.

Would love to see the video
