Anybody making a living playing professional golf is a phenomenal player. I have some family members that played pro and some aspiring pros that will shoot in 60s regularly and are excellent golfers, but were not able to make a living at it.

Partnered up with a former captain at Princeton. He was shooting phenominal, keep in mind he was in his 50's at the time. We asked why he didn't go pro, he said because he couldn't shoot birdies lol. He had parred every hole up until this point.........

Shooting even par on the PGA Tour in the 18'-19' season (excluding majors and WGCs) has you with 34 starts, 22 missed cuts no top 20s, and 3 top 30s, nearly $348K in earnings, and a trip to the Korn Ferry Tour Finals to try to keep your card. Pars just don't get the job done, typically. Even par at Bethpage this year gets you a 7th place finish, for example, but that was excluded from my number before. Sounds like your Princeton guy took the right path.

 

The fact that a 46 year old with an odd follow through is able to win a professional event as well as make a living is awesome and certainly spices things up in the events he is able to play in.
