Visiting my brother in Denver last weekend of Sept.

looking for 2 courses to play

Hey guys, looking forward to my trip out there!

My brother was transferred out to Denver from TN about 2 months ago, and I'm gonna head up for a little weekend golf trip.

I'll get in Friday night, and leave Sunday night, so we're looking for a place to play on Sat, anywhere close to denver(45 min) and for sunday, somewhere close to North denver.

Price isnt a HUGE concern, but we'd like maybe one value course and one high end, but under like $70 if possible.

Both of us are under 5 handicaps, so we'd like a challenge, but also something that will welcome us both to Denver golf, if that makes sense? Thanks guys!

Fossil Trace in Golden. :-)

A few courses I would say are Fossil Trace, like Sean2 said, Red Hawk Ridge down in Castle Rock, and Bear Dance.

Bear Dance will give you a challenge and is an amazing course. If you go after 12 it's $69 a person. Before that it's $89 a person.

Definitely agree with Bear Dance. I played it in July on my birthday and loved it.
Kings Deer is a nice links style course. I haven't played this season though.
Murphy Creek is fun course especially from the tips.
Heritage Eagle Bend is nice, not overly tough though.

Sweet, thanks guys. Bear Dance says its 109 on weekend or 79 after two, seems a little too steep for me. My brother played fossil trace yesterday and loved it so that might be an option.

The way my flight it set up, I might be able to play 36 on sunday since I dont fly out until 9pm or maybe we'll play 36 on Sat.

You might think about Riverdale Dunes and Knolls for Sunday. Play 36, 2 different 18 and not have to drive anywhere. Might exceed your 45 minute windows but google maps says it's 30 minutes from the I-25 / 6th street exit.

Dunes and Knolls are great...look at Colorado National in Erie as well...The Broadlands is a nice track too...Legacy Ridge, Heritage Todd Creek...so many to choose from!

Right on, that actually looks like a good idea, and the price is pretty reasonable. BTW, my brother lives in Northglenn, so not sure whats close by him.

I wasn't too impressed with Fossil Trace when I played it. A few cool holes on the back, but I found the front very average.

I think Arrowhead is a all around better course with the same type of layout and feel.

How is the CU course? Is that colorado national?

Also, anyone know the rates for arrowhead on sat/sunday? I can't find a rate sheet on their website, only "packages"

Also, the round at murphy creek can be changed, anyone know current rates? See something about $44 which isnt bad, but then a $30 cart fee? Yeah right!

Any other suggestions for something say....under $60 and within 30 of northglen?

Murphy Creek is around 40 or 50 dollars on the weekends. It's my favorite course in the Denver area. If you are a low handicap you can play from the tips but I suggest the tees just ahead of those. From the tips it's around 7600 yards and is pretty flat.

RIght on, $50 will work. 7600 wold work for me but not sure about my brother, we'll play it forward. I'm expecting about a club gain in distance,too.
