Difference in Stamping Between 2012 ProV1x vs. Earlier Versions

lostgolfballs.com order
Hey All,

I went ahead and spent the couple extra bucks to order the 2012 ProV1x's from lostgolfballs.com instead of the earlier versions thinking it was worth it for the guarantee that they hadn't been sitting in the drink for an extra year.

Got my order and a couple of the balls have stamps on them from 2011 outings, making it impossible for them to be 2012 balls. So now I'm wondering how many others in my order (that don't have the samping to make it obvious) are from 2011 and earlier.

Is there an easy way to differentiate between the 2012 ProV1x's and earlier models? I'm sure it was just a mistake on their part but I'd just like to know because this is WRX and we're crazy when it comes to this stuff.

Not that it makes much of a difference to my game, I just don't like the idea of playing a ball that's been sitting in a water hazard for over a year. Plus if I'm going to be getting 2010 ProV's in my orders I want to pay the 2010 price.

Thanks!

2011 models have something like <.--prov1--.>

2012 should have solid line and arrow <--prov1-->

ill double check tomorrow but i am pretty sure 2011 has the dots in the alignment aid

Wrong. The Pro V1 has been on a two year product cycle since initially released in 2001. Titleist did NOT release a new ProV1 line for 2012. There will likely be new versions for 2013.

Here are the side stamps since 2007:

2007 <----PRO V1---->
2009 <dot---PRO V1---dot>
2011 <----PRO V1---->

LGB.com can be misleading. The 2012 listing is the 2011 version and the 2010 listing is the 2009 version. The 392's could include balls anywhere from 2001-2006.

Their is no 2012 model Pro V1/Pro V1X. The last time the Pro V1 was changed was for the 2011 year.

The 2011 Pro V1 "arrow" and "line" are connected, one piece, no gap.

The 2007 model has a slight gap between the "arrow" and "line".

I have all the models separated and boxed until the present and this is correct!!! I was wondering why the 2011 and what may be 2012, which I see now, is either last years or same markings for 2012, is the same on the titleist site

Speaking of V1 model years, I remember when "seaming" a V1 was all the rage. I always assumed the seam effect to be negligible. If the golfer could get extra distance off the driver by purposefully seaming ( a good thing), then he could also get extra distance off the 9 iron by playing a ball that randomly landed in a seaming position (a very bad thing if there's a hazard beyond the green).

Thanks to the description of the model years' badges, I seem (bad, I know) to see that the straight hemispheric seam last appeared in the 2009 V1. Can someone confirm this?

The last visible seam was on the 2005 version. Titleist released the "Staggered Wave Parting Line" to cover up the seam with the 2007 version.

Storm, thank you for setting me straight. I didn't have any older 392 balls on hand to look at a truly seamed ball. Help me out again, please. It appears that the 2011 V1 has an even better camouflaged "joint" than the 2007 and 2009 versions. Am I seeing this correctly? Does Titleist use the same term - staggered wave - for all 3 model years?

Thanks.

The dimple designs changed for the 2011 version so there is a possibility that it hides the seam better. The staggered wave parting line has been used on all balls since the 2007 version.
