just another post that reconfirms the A-hole ness of this board sometimes, I love it when people just get flamed by the "elite" group around here.

Currently I am working on getting some custom made golf shoes converted from some nike shox, as of now its early, but it involves having the shoes re-soled to a point which right now I'm working on a spike pattern and a way to get the spike into the soles. I have a customer who is a injection mold company who is helping me right now so my cost are less as I am friends with them and they enjoy a challenge it seems.

The shoemaker who is doing the install of the soles is also the same guy who is making my custom bowling shoes, made from some walking shoes which are in my size. I am debating on having some casual dress shoes also made up for bowling but they will wait till I see how well the first ones work, the bowling ones will have full velcro on the bottom to accept the dexter slide soles.

for the record I wear a size 17.5/18 pending on the maker of the shoe, I have been lobbying nike to make golf shoes that high, but no luck yet.

I applied to become a member of the "elite" here but my application was rejected when they discovered that I converted a pair of Cole Haan wingtips into steel-toe work shoes for my construction job. Facebook was my undoing, again.*

*Doing my part to keep the A-Hole ness going.

I really like the Footjoy spikeless shoes. Do you think I could glue some spikes on those?

I took an old pair of FootJoy Classics to the shoe repair and had him refashion them into a kick-a** pair of mandals. Very comfy for rounds of golf in the summer, and I get a little sun on my toes when I play!

Actually, it's funny you should mention this - I did a similar DIY project earlier this year.

I have a favorite pair of leather mandals that I've had for years. Mind you, I've worn them so much in hot, desert-like conditions that they smell worse than a barn cat that's been dead for three weeks - but they are so comfortable that I just can't give them up.

Anywho, I got to thinking one day on the links that I wish I was wearing my comfortable - yet disgusting smelling - mandals. My feet were hotter than all get-out in my FootJoy Classics, and I wished I could create a suitable pair of spiked mandals that I could wear on the course for traction during my violent transition at the top of the swing.

Here's the idea I came up with - since the soles of my leather mandals were slick from years of wear, I had the perfect base for creating a reliable traction surface. I stopped in Home Depot and purchased a 4 FL OZ bottle of Elmer's Rubber Cement. The cap on the bottle has an application brush - so it worked perfectly.

I then applied a thin, yet broad, layer of rubber cement on the soles of my mandals. Next - I simply put them on and walked around for 30 paces or so on a sand/gravel road near my course. The gravel, of course, sticks to the rubber cement. I then took a seat in the grass, and allowed the sand and gravel and rubber cement to bond to the soles of my mandals. Instant traction!!!

Now, the gravel is prone to wear off/fall off after use. So, I simply keep a 4 OZ bottle of Elmer's rubber cement in my golf bag.

After one of my playing partners witnessed me reapplying some rubber cement/sand/gravel to one of my mandals on the course, he kindly offered to buy me a pair of FootJoy CoolJoy sandals in the pro shop.

I just laughed and replied, "You know there's a reason why they're called sandals, right?"

My gosh, some people just aren't that creative, ya know?

Creative, yet there is no way I would ever walk on a green with those.

Nike makes Shox golf shoes dude.

I've never heard of anyone attempting to convert shoes. Seems kinda like a stupid idea- IMO.

Jesus dude, it was a question, no need to call the guy stupid. If you have continued to read the thread....now you have heard of several people attempting to convert shoes into several different types.

I didn't call anyone stupid.

I said it was a dumb idea .... IN MY OPINION.

That's how these discussion forums work. ;)

There is a company that makes add-on spikes. It's a sort of webbing thing that you stretch over the shoe with golf spikes in place.

Evidently there is. ^^^^^^^^^^^^

I can't believe no one has thought of this.
Take the most comfortable shoes that you own ... and .... take a felt marker and write "Golf Shoes" on the side !!
Voila - now you have converted your shoes into golf shoes ..... problem solved.

C'mon everyone - Loosen the bone Wilma !! We're just having fun and fooling with the OP.
Lighten up - some of the comments were funny. Sheesh it's a golf DB not a discussion on Middle East peace .....

haha, I ran into same sort of teasing awhile back when I asked about cleat kits I saw advertised. How many remember the old clamp on roller skates and the skate key that you wore around your neck?

I would suggest a sole swap.  Take the non golf shoe to a shoe cobbler and ask for a sole swap.  Shoe customizes on IG can do this as well.  Basically take one sole from donor pair(cycling shoe) and swap it out with the NIKE shot upper.  It can get pricey but if you care about your style, no one else opinions matters.  I will bet that at least one person will ask where you bought them and want a pair as well.
