The Wager...

Pigems

Recommended Posts

Well it ended up being a good night. I shot a 77(+5), I picked a course that was 6500 yards roughly. It was wide in some areas and narrow in others, actually it was a fun course to play. I hit the ball really well tonight using my new setup position, and it did work for driver/woods once I hit a few on the range to get used to it. I also put the PXv back in my driver tonight with a bit of lead tape. Towards the end of the round I was hitting some nice drives with around 12*-14* of launch even. My putting was the only part that let me down tonight, distance control was good but I couldn't find the right line on many puts. My score could have been a lot lower, I had a few good looks at birdie that I missed.

Another plus for tonight was I got some new swing videos with my phone of my swing with the changes I made. My phone got a huge update on the weekend and I now have an option to film video in 720p at 60fps. The videos definitely turned out better, but it's just really dark in there. It will be awesome for the range in the summer though :)

I'll get the videos up shortly, they're just uploading now :)

I have a bit of a strange question for all your snowbound people: Do you ever go to a miniature golf course with YOUR putter just to roll some balls for score? :)
I've been in a group where all four gents were carrying their 'flat sticks' on a miniature golf course. You've got to grind over those 2 footers when you're playing for a $1 a hole ; )

Gaucho,

Happy to see that you are on the mend. 4 holes of pain free golf is better than no holes of golf. Give it time.
LOL were those same gents plumb bobbing and reading their putts from both sides of the hole? That's some hardcore putt putt.
Things get serious when my wife and I hit the miniature course together. She once struck my 'man parts' on a back swing with a putter (unintentionally . . . I think : ). One of those lengthy (20 foot) putts that needs to be banked off a windmill.
She got you right in the Peanuts, sorry couldn't help myself there

Glad to here the Machine is on the mend, what did they end up doing with it??

What happened to your back?? To much golf or snow shoveling?? Maybe you need a graphite shovel shaft too to keeps those elbows from getting sore, those wooden ones are way outdated. True Temper has a lovely selection of fiberglass shovel shafts in all different flex and color options, I'm sure they will even hard/soft step one for a custom order :D

Good lookin swings Pige,

The only thing I see is that you stand on the wrong side of the ball. Wait, were you filming yourself in a mirror? Nice round buddy.

TYVM sir, I play from this side because the game just wasn't hard enough as a Righty ;)

You are miles ahead of this time last year! Don't forget your left hand is lower than the right so unless you fractionally bend that elbow at address, your shoulders will tend to pull to right field a bit. BUT - if you can play it the way you are.... for heaven's sake don't mess with it.

You should look at some OLD swings compared to this --- huge difference.

Have you made a move to contact lenses? I though those hole-in-one photos showed a man in glasses? Maybe my memory is failing - they say that's the second thing to go. (can't remember the first thing)

Right in the little peanuts. Yup.

I'm not certain what Mr. Billings has in store for the Machine. I'm assuming his milling the topline again, but who knows. I just send the money ; )

As for the back and elbow pain. I'm 36 and my body seems to be falling apart. I'm just weak.

Pigs,

happy to see that you've cleaned the stink off and have joined us mere mortals at 6500 again. Enough Pigs in the Sky for now.

I'm still impressed by the ball return mechanism in the simulator. Maybe this machine would save my back.

TY sir, I feel like I'm ready to take the next big step this season. I'm much more confident in my game and my equipment going into this season than I was last year. I can't wait to get out onto a real course this spring. I may have had sunglasses on before, but I don't wear prescription glasses :)

I haven't compared these latest ones yet, but I definitely plan too. I love being able to see the changes at work :)

I have to say it's nice to be back, over 6500 yards just ain't for Pigems'. Tonight round was much more enjoyable, I didn't have to hit hybrid once, and fairways only on tee shots and par 5's like it should be :)

I love theauto the auto tee machine, it makes life much easier I have to say. Just tap the button and out swings the arm :)

PD, Around here, we call that a 6 inch improved lie. :taunt:

I'm your age, numbers reversed, +1. Believe me you have a lot of fun to come.
For your elbow, not sure if you said if you are using a Bandit or such, but they really helped me when it has cropped up. One silly season when I insisted on still playing (after a dumb swing change that hurt me) I had one on each elbow. I was lucky to get through that probably.

I've been lusting after that Machine putter since the first post. Trust it will come back healed.
It certainly got me thinking. Today I sent off my beloved oldie but goody 2 Ball White Steel CS to SpryEvo for a Formula 1 race car grade carbon fibre insert and to smooth out any blemishes and give it a new Teflon coating. Very excited!

In other news, I think it's 35 days and counting for The Wager. Inquiring minds await a Golf Advent Calendar or such ( Wish To Buy Calendar?) to the presumed grand finale!

Looks like I am going to be making an appointment with a sports medicine specialist to figure out what is going on with my shoulder. Of course, tomorrow there is an SCGA meeting at my local golf store ... so I am going to have to try and make some "smart" swings tomorrow. :) The other option is $12 golf 50 miles away on a course that I love but is in rough shape... REALLY rough shape.

4 holes wasn't really enough to make for a solid round. I was even until the pain started ... right at the insane 178 yard UPHILL (into wind) hole that plays like 200 and change. Sort of made things interesting. Didn't help that I had "Tigered" two chips on that same hole, and yes that IS a thing now like those "deactivated glutes."

After watching the old videos a few times, I'm quite impressed with my progress, you were right Reasy. My swing has changed a LOT since just last year even. I'm super stoked for spring this year. I can't believe how much of the OTT I got out of my swing this winter. Look out par, here I come :D
