Legs on Ping Vantage hanging

Anyone know how to fix

I have a new Ping Vantage bag and one of the legs is always hanging down. Anyone know how to remedy this short of calling Ping and having to send their bag in? I thought I read somewhere that you could bend the wire a certain way to fix this, but I can't find that reference now. Any help would be appreciated.

The bag stand can be adjusted by slightly bending the wire "spring" that extends the legs. More bend equals further retraction of the legs. If you prefer not to attempt this adjustment please call our repair department at (800) 474-6434 for information on sending your bag in for repair.

You should search in "Golf Style" section. Leg hanging PING vantage is pretty common occurance as far as I know.

This has been a quirk with the Hoofer bags for as long as there have been Hoofer bags. You can play around with the mechanism and try to fix it.......or just accept it as something that comes with the territory. I've had 3 or 4 various Hoofer models starting with the original up to my current Vantage and they all have done it. The only time I ever notice is when I'm carrying my bag and I look over and see my shadow and notice the leg is hanging down. Doesn't affect workability in the least. Ping used to put an adjustment strap on the back of the bag but I noticed they've discontinued it in my Vantage.

I was deciding between PING hoofer vantage and Mizuno GTO bag recently. I loved the stability and functionality of vantage, but I was just too bothered by potential hanging leg problem. Thus, I ended up with Mizuno GTO.

 

I've read that even when you adjust using the technique suggested by PING (ie. what previous poster said), hanging leg doesn't totally go away. You can send it in to PING and they can cut the leg a bit and reattach which seems to work better/last longer.

 

Personally, if I notice legs hanging, I will be too bothered. But that's just me. Weirdo.

Thanks for the info guys. The Ping web page reference was the thing I had seen before, I just couldn't remember where I had seen it. Has anyone tried bending the wire? If so, how did it work out? My luck with mechanical things, I would end up snapping the thing or making it worse, but I may give it a try.

 

 

 

I am usually pretty bothered about little things like drooping legs, but I am determined to make this Vantage bag work - I can't have a bag full of Ping clubs in a non-Ping bag, and I am sick of switching stand bags due to some little flaw. There is no absolute perfect bag and switching out relatively new bags is getting expensive.

 

 

 

One of my previous bags was an Ogio Vaporlite bag that had horrible legs. They would actually rub against my calves when I walked. The Ping legs don't hang that low, so hopefully it is just a cometic thing that I can just ignore.

Mine was doing the same and I was pissed since it is brand new. My old hoofer did it which is why I even bothered to spend money on a new bag...wish I knew this info prior to spending cash on a new one!

When I was deciding on the bag, I even thought about creating a little holder for legs on PING so that it doesn't droop. I think it may work, but I am too lazy to put into action.

if you send in your vantage bag to ping, ask em to cut a 1/4" off the top of the legs and request that the legs retract completely when the bag is completely full. this will make the vantage legs not droop. HOWEVER this will cause the vantage to be less stable then when the legs naturally droop. it's one or the other, not both guys.

I used to have a Vaporlite but the stand was shocking, both legs on that wouldn't retract properly, I e-mailed Ogio and they told me to slide up the plastic thing on the wire, fixed the problem but then the legs wouldn't open enough to support the bag. Ping cra-z-lite was just as bad, if not worse, but I now have a Hoffer extreme and that doesn't have the problem yet. The cra-z-lite started doing it after just three weeks.

Where exactly do you bend, and which direction?
