Thinking about changing the shaft in my Stock R9

I have had my R9 supertri for about 3 years. It has the stock shaft 60 grams and I think it is cut .5 inches and it is stiff. I have a 95 SS and hit the ball about 250 usually with some sort of unwanted fade or slice. I'm looking for more distance and straighter shots. my drive is 10.5 in loft I do feel like i hit the ball a little high. what shafts do you recommend or changing drivers.

 

p.s. im not looking to spend a crazy amount of money.

Based on the info given, there is no easy answer to that one nor is there any indication that a shaft change would actually help in any way. Simply put, it's impossible to suggest a 'fix' if we don't know what the specific problem is. The simplest way to do this is to just go see a good quality fitter. Much of the process of finding both the 'problem' and the 'fix' is done by trial and error. So unless you want to go buy a bunch of different things to try, it's much better to do those trials with someone elses gear.

As far as getting more distance - we'd need to know the specific launch numbers you are getting now. club head speed, ball speed, launch angle, spin, AoA. Without these numbers there is no way to know what needs to change in the ball flight (if anything) to get more distance and therefore how the equipment might have to change to give you that change in ball flight.

As far as accuracy and control - this is a good article to read about the various aspects of the club impact that. I will give a quick overview that length and weight tend to be the most important factors so changing shafts might help but only if a different static weight is warranted.

Go to a regular flex. Same driver same SS. It will bring the left side into your drives though.

Generally, for most people, flex will have very little impact on left/right issues. Only if the feel of the flex/loading doesn't match the expectations of the player and the player actually makes compensations for that feel mismatch and actually change the swing because if it. Even then there is no real cooralation between what will happen with too soft vs too stiff.

For left/right issues, when it comes to equipment specs, face angle changes are generally much more effective. e.g. try closing the face angle on the r9 with the FCT adjustability (setting to 'L').

The Motore shafts that came in many R9 drivers are some great shafts. There cheap usually also.
