Range ball Advertising help needed

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I'm looking into doing some advertising for my business at the club I am member at. I was thinking of doing our company logo on range balls. This is obviously pretty pricey, I have to buy the balls and get them logoed. Looking at 250-300 dozen golf balls at or around $2400. Been thinking about buying some refurbished decent golf balls and then getting a company to logo them. Does anyone know of a company that logos golf balls that I would send them? Seriously, I value and input anyone has, is this a stupid idea? It's a pretty expensive piece of advertising. Thanks for your help.

Without looking very hard, I'm pretty sure many if not most reconditioned golf ball sellers offer logos as an option. The first couple google results indicated as much.

I'd think you just need to stat making contact and getting quotes as I'm quite sure no one here has ever ordered golf balls in the quantities you are looking for.

I don't think anyone takes outsides golf balls in to logo them. I'm fairly sure all balls are logoed by the manufactured because a clear coat of paint is usually applied over the golf ball after labeling.

From a marketing perspective I'm not sure this is a great idea. It seems like a limited audience, one club, and have you even gotten permission from the club to do this? I feel like membership would not be happy to see a advertisement on their golf balls. I don't know your business but there must be better ways of reaching your target audience.
The club came to me with this idea. I'm a general contractor and there are a lot of wealthy patrons at my club, a local business has done this with tees and whenever I think of that line of business that they sponsored I subliminally think of that company that has sponsored the tees. I'm really open to suggestions on this. Any other forms of advertising anyone can think of?

I don't mean to play devils advocate but I never look at what is on the range ball. Especially if it is on them all. Most people will overlook it. As mentioned about putting a company name on a tee I would be more like to look at I have to pick it up to put a ball on it. Most of the time at the range I just take the basket and dump it and never pick up a ball unless I'm hitting driver.

Does your club have a community board? If so ask them if you can post a business flyer on the board. Make sure the board is right over the computer where everyone posts their scores.
No by all means play devils advocate, it's a lot of money for us to spend on something I'm not sure will really work, that's why I'm asking for opinions. And that guy has the tee market cornered...

To be honest, I don't think it offers a great return, particulary in your line of business.

I do believe people will see it and I do believe they might even take notice but think about it.....their mind is in another place at that time and when they are done and walk away, so will your impact.

IMO, a Golf course paired with a general contractor, I would go a whole other direction.

I'd build and donate whatever I could that would make a connection between the two. Like drink stations or something, those little 'houses' that house a water cooler for example. I'd build like the cutest litttle "Home" with a shingle roof, fancy trim and hardware, siding (faux or whatever but you get the idea), windows. Like a detailed model home and have the company name on a plaque.

That kind of thing would get notice and might stick on peoples minds. If not drink statiolns than anything else that would do the same. Maybe some covered seating/rest stops ? Showcase you work, probably cost less than the golf balls, probably last longer and I 'think' get more distance. Plus, if you can get real integral with the idea, they'll be calling you back for repairs and touch ups etc.

Eh, just a thought.

"just" a thought????

That is a brilliant idea!!! :drinks:

OP, two words: Do this.

(Send RRfireblade a dozen logo'd balls with the profits from your first water cooler referral, RR send me a sleeve of those for petitioning this referral fee)
