Have you put your g25's on the bst yet PD??

This is going to sound irrational but I'm nervous.

The whole idea of selling to a person I don't know over the Internet. I guess I've read too many 'I've been burned by member jackwagon' threads.

On the other hand I'm tired of looking at quality irons that I'm not using and will probably never use again. I think I will lay down an ultimatum with myself . . . no more gear until I sell this set and recover some cash.

I wish I could just trade them straight up for what I want.

I don't blame you, it worries me a bit as well. But as long as we cover all the bases and do everything legit there should be no way to get burned. Those stories always seem to involve gifted payments or going outside of ebay and such in most cases, Or new members with no feedback.

You could always look at callaway Golf trade in network, they pay the shipping and seem to have the best trade values I've found so far. I'm pretty sure you can just cash out your trade credit too with them, I haven't traded anything with them but I always check them before trading things in. You might get less for the stuff but it's "safer" than dealing with random strangers and they pay the shipping :)

Pige,

I see on here you have a set of Spaulding Irons. Are they a older set, or are they still in the club making business? I know they used to make Top Flite stuff.
They are indeed an older set Bick, I believe from the mid to late 90's maybe. They resemble the old King Cobra oversized irons. I played them for a while before I got my CB'S, and now I'm back to them once again lol. I got them for $40 on Kijiji one day because I wanted the wedges that came with them and ended up liking them :)

Isn't it great that a $40 'back up set' can outperform the $1000 set of 'money makers'.

Strange game.

It absolutely baffles me, but I can argue with results. Aside from having a little larger head there is really no difference between themother than the shafts though. There both a straight forward CB iron?? Who knows?? lol

I'm still hitting a set of Wilson Staff Di 5's I've had since about 2005. I got them new for $200.00 in 2007. I got a used set of Bridgestone GC Os irons for next to nothing earlier this year, but so far I hit the Staffs better.
Good stuff Bick, wilson makes nice gear. I had a set of Wilson's a few years ago that I really liked, but the shafts were to soft for me. Bridgestone also makes nice gear, ive never tried any of it myself though :)

They kind of look like pings to me, and P. D. is right, just because a club costs more doesn't mean you'll hit it better.
Most definitely, cost is no factor in how well something will work :)

I think all the major manufacture's make good stuff, some just works better for certain people than others. I have to like the way a club looks at address, or I'll never be able to hit it. I made the mistake of buying the newer version of the Cleveland Launcher in 2009. It looked huge and was not a traditional shape. I thought I could get past it, but am glad I kept the 2006 model, cause I couldn't. I sold it to a guy, and he hit it great, until his kid broke the shaft.

In my teenage years I had a set of knockoff lookalikes to the King Cobra Oversize. Despite the size, the sole width was reasonably narrow and the depth of the bounce wasn't problematic. I hit them pretty well. That probably explains part of my issues with very wide soles and what I would call "deep" bounce, not that they don't have a very valuable place for many people.

Having said that, as soon as the tax refund comes in, I'm doing a full bag fitting. I love my MP69s but I'm just not going to have as much time to practice as I'd like... unless I can find a driving range close to whatever place ends up hiring me. :D I'll still be focusing on wedges, chipping and putting, but I can't ignore trying to improve GIR. Of course, that's also going to require work on the tee clubs, too.

This should be fun, as I do find practicing as much of a hobby as playing. I know, I'm weird.

So far, leading candidates are JPX 850 Forged, MP54, AP2, and I25. Bear with me, as I'm not kidding when I say I have the mental yips with larger clubs. I know, it's supposed to be blasphemy, but it's true for me. Maybe it has something to do with being a lefty and playing righty, and being left eye dominant. I don't know, I just know it's there. :russian_roulette:

Maybe it's the circle on the sweet spot of those Spauldings, giving you a aim point on the face?

I understand,

I've never played what I'd call a good round of golf with any ball other than a Pro V1 X. I've tried a lot of different balls, and play ok with them, but if my game starts to go a little sideways, the first thing I try is switch to a Pro V. Must be confidence, cause it usually turns my game around, even if it's just for a few holes. Wish I felt that way about Nitro, or Top Flite Pure Distance. :) Oh, and for me a good round is sub 85. I've only broken 80 4 times in my life, all 4 times with a 1x.

Bick, have you tried the Wilson 50elite balls?? Really nice balls for around $1 a ball.
I may have, I used a Wilson ball last year I found on the course and liked it, but didn't pay attention to what it was other than W.S.. I tried the Duo, and didn't really care for those. I think it had a 51 as the ball number on it, and it was yellow.

Thank you for the tip sir, It can't hurt to give them a try.

For the price they're hard not to at least try, I got a box of 24 at the end of last season for $26 and they still seem to be the same price. My Jaws MD wedge couldn't even hurt the covers to much, not at all like it did to the supersoft and project (a) balls. I read Member Goobers compare them to the Pro V's in a post one day, and she is a really good golfer. So they must be good enough for us eh :)

The ball you mentioned sounds like it's a 50elite, there are marked 51,52,53 and do come in yellow. Was it really soft feeling off the clubface?? If so it was most likely it :)
