Looking for a driver shaft

Hey everybody i am in the market for a new shaft for my 815 DBD. I am currently using a 7m3 black tie x stiff and i like the feel of the shaft but i am not getting the spin numbers i was hoping for. My SS is around 115 but can get into the 120's when i am really swinging well. I have a pretty strong load and good paced transition and a mid ball flight but i can hit it high if want. I was considering the Speeder VC 6.2 tour spec but i was concerned that anything less than a 75 grams would help me. Also am considering the ahina 70x. So if anyone has experience with these and can you recommend any other shafts that would perform similarly.

Do you actually have all your numbers from a reliable source?
Have you used impact tape to check your impact position on the face?

If the 70 gm range shafts are a better fit for then generally it would not be a good idea to drop to a lighter shaft - but that really has little to do with spin/launch. Choosing shaft weight is all about tempo and rhythm and consistency.

Black tie is already a low launch/spin shaft. If you like the feel of it and the weight really is a good fit for you and you're making good contact on the face, then it's doubtful any shaft change is going to make a noticeable difference to the numbers. Reducing loft is going to be the most effective way to lower those numbers.

The numbers are coming from a trackman at my local sports store and as for the loft i already have set at 8 degrees. But thanks for your response and I will fiddle around with the loft to see if i get better results

I think you missed the point Stuart was telling you about, because IMPACT SPOT on the face has a huge influence on both ball speed and spin, so check WHERE on the face your regular impact spot is. If its lower than the center line, then you found your spin problem. Raise the tee and try again and spin will drop. Stay with that shaft if weight is right and feel is good.

Hey thanks. i guess i was missing the point that Stuart was getting at. The thread you linked really helped me understand where my excess spin was coming from. I will try what you guys have suggested and will tell of my findings. Thanks a bunch!

Well - in truth, I hadn't explicitly made the point yet - I was being a little lazy and had first just asked the question about impact position (along side with some other questions). I was going to see if you had already checked it first and to see if you would post the actual numbers before making the point on why it was important.

With your SS and strength I would never go under 75 grams on a driver shaft. 80+ grams would prolly be even better. I play an ad bb 8X and the 88 grams really helps with accuracy and tempo. You don't need a light shaft or to gain distance. You have plenty of length with that SS. You need accuracy IMO.

Just my thoughts.
