Lajosi Damascus "Lizard Melt"

By the end of the year Kari shipped a couple of putters in Damascus with a very special insert in tellurium cooper. These putters are amazing and trick the eyes in a great way. When you see the putter at address you can see the lizards. One putter has the lizard facing to the toe and in the other is facing to the heel.

 

The lizard is an insert that goes from the sole to the top that blends with the rest of the Damascus. What do you think?

Yes, it is amazing.

It combines the skills of CNC programming and craftsmanship putting these two materials together in a seamless way to produce something that is art. I would call it [i]Damascusmithing[/i], perhaps I invented a new word.

I found some other photos that shows the process. The tellurium copper insert almost done and the final milling of the head. Attention to details is great, as for example the lizard has fingers on every leg and they were not lost in the process.

I believe as a tool and die maker, this kind of insert technique is what Kari and his company deal with everyday. Awesome application onto putter-making, Kari! I wonder how that looks after the copper develops some patina.
