Pinnacle Tungsten Irons?

I bought a set of these off ebay, 3-P, for $5 (plus $16 shipping lol). They arrived today, so of course I immediately took them to the driving range. They...felt...awesome!

I've been scouring the internet and can't find any info about them. The only markings on them is what you see in the picture (plus "Pinnacle" and the club number on the sole). Anyone know anything about them? When they were made, were they played by any pros, etc?

I remember these. Cast irons circa 80s. Similar design to the old ram accubars which were my first set of irons as a kid. No pros played them because 90+% played forged blades at the time. These probably cost about $300 a set back in the day when blades and pings were going for $500.

Ha! Check these out. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/161570012860?lpid=82&chn=ps. I haven't seen a set of these in 25 years.

Looks like you got a good deal.

They are the exact same thing. If you want the specs of them then go to Titleist's previous Irons page and you will find them. They are pretty good clubs, esspecially for developing workability. I have the Titleist AC108's and played them all last season, I was able to drop my handicap significantly just by practicing and playing these things well. Love the pitching wedge, if you hit it right, it is just like butter and has a beautiful ball flight.
As far as year they were made, it would have to have been around 1972-1976 when the AC108's were made.

The AC 108 was my first set of real golf clubs. Would have been in 1976 or so. The Pinnacle version came out later, in the very early 80's if memory serves.

I bought these new when I was 19. If I remember right, I bought them in 1985. There were tons of ads for them during tournaments on TV. They really changed my game and I started shooting in the 80s. I stopped using them because the swing weight was something ridiculous like D3 or D4, and if I remember right the swing weight for the set was all over the map.

Not surprised you like them. Iron design is all about center of gravity location and sole design, along with the fitting aspects of shaft, lie angle and grip size.

If you compare these to a modern set, compare the modern 7 to the Pinnacle 5. That's the true "apples to apples" comparison when it comes to loft and shaft length.

I went and bought a table from a guy on marketplace and in his garage was a set of old clubs on the shelf. I said wow what are those he said oh they are just some old clubs, you can have them. They are the Pinnacle Tungstun flat sole irons. the whole set. It was heck getting the grips off and putting new ones on but i took the 9 iron out in the backyard and they fely great. i will be playing them in the money game tomorrow. Wish me luck lolol
