I'm getting fit for my first driver tomorrow. I currently have the Covert 2.0 and was looking to get fit for either the Vapor Fly Pro or the Vapor Fly. I have hit both of the drivers before at various demo days and liked them a lot. When I go in for the fitting, should I tell the fitter up front that after hitting most of this year's current lineup that these were the few that I have narrowed them down to. Or should I just let the fitter hand me whatever he thinks is best?

How did the fitting go? What did your fitter and you agree was the optimum stick?

Hit about 40 warmup balls, swing felt pretty good until about last 10. I could feel something had gone wrong but couldn't pinpoint it. The fitter was running late, so I went about 30 minutes without hitting anything. Got in there and just could not find anything. Everything was off, I was even hitting my own driver worse than I've hit it in a while.

My AoA was very steep and I could feel myself cutting across it which I hardly ever do, but I just couldn't get out of the funk. I hit a bunch of different drivers but my swing got so out of sync everything was doing about the exact same thing, a nice little weak fade with no pop. I hit the Flex 440 a few times, and of probably the 6 drivers I hit that one felt the best, even though I was not hitting anything how I wanted. Gave the M1 a crack, and it was exactly that, a crack. Felt way too harsh for me and loud. The fitter could tell something was wrong and said I should come back once I get the kinks worked out, because he didn't want to fit me for something with my D- swing today and then I get in a groove and it's just completely wrong. Plan is to head back in within a week or two once I work out the kinks.

Just curious, how old are my fellow Nike fanboys? Seems like most people I see on the course with a swoosh are under 30. I'm 21 for example.

Just turned 39, feel 29.

I'm loving the feel and sound of the flex, but it's around 15 yards short of my tour issue M2 with the same shaft. I'm thinking about going to the Vapor Fly Pro because I could use more forgiveness.

Kinda crazy how many mixed reviews there are on the flex. Some people claim its the longest driver ever made, and some say its way shorter. I wonder if the guys that hit it shorter just dont have it tuned right, or if it just isnt working for some types of swings.

For me, it is my struggle with an early release and I'm far from the best ball striker with the driver. I fight some really high spin numbers with my top ball speeds. I'm still working on a few things to bring the spin down. For instance with the Flex I can hit it further with a 155 ball speed and 2000-2200 spin compared to 165 ball speed and 2900 rpm's. The M2 was an 8.5 head and I could lower it to 7* and I could carry it in the high 270's with no more than 2000 rpm's.

The feel and sound are much more superior with the flex. I hit this a lot straighter too. Next move is to take 1/2" off the tip to bring the spin down.

Pretty interesting review! Can the weight in the back not drastically change spin numbers for you?

I totally agree about the feel and sound! I got fit for my vapor pro through a nike fitting van. I liked the flex so much more in every way, but they said my numbers were hands down better with the pro, so I went with that. All though I am sure those guys are experts and were correct, the insane side of me still wants the flex haha.

With so many different settings available I'm surprised the perfect setting can't be found with the Flex 440. I hit mine great either in 9.5 with the weight forward OR 8.5 with it in the back. Stock blue board in stiff. SS 108 to 111. I will forever be addicted to the feel and sound of this driver.

BTW I'm 48 going on 28. First pair of Nike shoes were probably Cortez then probably 50 pairs of Jordans.

This thread has taken an odd turn...but count me in. 27 here.

Just picked up some minty Vapor Pro Combo heads. About to build a set - just have to decide what shafts to use now.

I'm new to the game, just started playing last summer. I played a couple of times about 16 years ago using a cheap Foremost set I got for $100 at Walmart. I could never hit them well. Last summer I jumped on a used set of Nike Ignites. The difference was night and day for me. Then I ordered an Ignite driver and 5 wood from eBay. Every club in my bag is one I bought used since I don't have a whole lot to spend with three exceptions. I grabbed a new Slingshot AW from eBay for $15, the Foremost putter is part of that cheap set I bought new many years ago, and the Drone 2.0 is new and arriving next week to replace the Foremost putter. Also picked up a used Clicgear 3.0 for those days I don't feel like carrying. They may not be shiny and new but I've enjoyed them so far. I'll be playing a lot more this year.

For the last month I've been gaming the Vapor Speed 2 dot 3 wood I purchased from Atomic Golf.

I love the club and can really hammer the ball with it. The only bad thing I've noticed is balls seem to eat the face up. Usually it's the other way around, it the face of a club eating the ball up.

I'm talking clean hits. The paint on the edge of the crown where the face and head meets is also getting scratched off easily.

Kind of frustrating.
