Local Sports Authority. I had some rewards points, military discount, it was on sale and a coupon. Normally they wouldn't add a military discount with a coupon, but I sweet talked the cashier (more like guilt tripped her) after I had brought it up to the register, took it all the way back to the golf section.

The shaft felt fine and numbers looked okay, but how is the s+60 that comes with the flex. Swing speed is 115-120 and smooth not a hard swinger.

I know it's an older nike iron, but I've been hitting the covert forged a lot lately at a local range. They feel awesome. Anyone out there gaming these irons? Am I wasting my time even considering these irons?

I have hit these before, they're a little chunky for my likes (appearance wise) but do feel pretty good, kind of a Titleist AP1 feel.

 

IMO, the covert lineup was never overly successful - especially the irons. The woods were innovative and performed well, but it never seemed like anyone bought into the irons. It doesn't help that they weren't really hyped up or marketed.

 

If you're in the market, there are much better options at a similar price point. Nike VR Pro Combo 3-PW for $319.99 on eBay, and they're significantly better clubs.

My game day equipment. Recently finished my all Nike bag with a set of custom built VR pro blades 3-pw. Nothing like puring a blade.

 

And any body else still gaming the VR pro Ltd. 3 wood? Thing is a monster! Nike will have to make something special for it to lose its spot.

I did the exact same thing this year and it only got even better (project x blue 6.5). It's funny I will let people occasionally hit my irons or driver but the 3 wood.... Not happening.

Also, I stopped in Ross last night to grab some batteries and to my surprise they had a ton of Nike Golf pants and shirts from the 2015 season. Didn't need any pants but I did grab two shirts at 20 bucks each. Retail was $65. Check it out if you have one in your area.

Didn't see any TW shirts but the two I bought are high-end Dri Fit. They had a few of the cheaper plain old Dri Fit shirts as well.

Soooo Being a long time AP2 sicko, I couldn't pass up the deal today.

I grabbed these from my boss today, have to say they feel so different with the project x 6.0 shaft, it's night and day. Feel smooth and soft and click perfect for me.

I really didn't like the other times I hit them but for some reason these felt just right for me.

Also gave me 52,58 square engage wedges.

Sick deal.

Have to cut them down and regrip, change the lies as well.

I'll update when I get them out.

I gamed those irons for awhile. I thought they did exactly what was advertised I just wasn't the biggest fan of the pocket cavity. I had the Covert Forged 2.0, I hear the original Covert Forged were just as playable.

Don't get them wet...and never feed hit them after midnight!!!!

 

In all seriousness I don't know if its possible to not keep them from rusting but there might be some ways to clean the rust off.

nice set up! Gamed the ltd 3 wood for a few years until this year. Got the 15 3w vapor fly and absolutely love it. I didn't think it would happen but the ltd is out.

You can put them in coke and wipe them off and they'll look raw again. You'll have to do this after every round if they get wet.

Hello, I'm gaming these and have for a year now, they feel soft but do have a click sound when you flush one, topline isn't too thick but certainly isn't thin, anywhere from 20hcp and down could easily play these
