I'm always late to the party with these posts, but thanks again to Fabb and City for the guest day invites to Hobbits. Really like that course (even with the fairway irrigation channels) :)

 

Also enjoyed the match with Goose, City and JJ. Always good guys to have in a group. I played very well on the back nine, though hit a roadblock on the par three 16 with the ball in the far corner of the left trap in between two wedges of sand. Double negated a couple of birds.

 

I think it's time to start taking offense for not being thanked for the Hobbit's guest invites. My morbidly obese self will crush non-thanking m'fers in the future. Hey, nice round, Hal.

But, there are people who solve unfathomably fast to me. Like, when I used to practice and re-do the same grid over and over to practice my grid navigation skills, I could get times down to the legit fill times of the best solvers. I'm saying they type and solve as fast as I can just type when I have the grid memorized.

They did charge a cart fee when I said I was walking, but it also made the decision on 2 to go get a cart an easy one, since I was paying for it anyway.

 

I took the cart back from the parking lot after the round and came back and City and Fabb were gone, but I now offer my deepest gratitude for sharing your Shire access. I did see PQ before I left and think I said thanks, but I will buy you a drink next time the grill's open.

Ross near me had zero pairs of golf shoes in any size. Could be because its across the street from Topgolf, could be because of these asshats posting 15 pairs of the TWs/LC3s in the BST.

 

They did have three racks of these - I think I almost sold Eagle on a pair.

5'8" approx 235. BMI is 36. I'm friggin fat as hell... My damn diet don't help maters right now.

I'm a 28. 6' 215.

 

Play Currituc today in high wind. Played like a 20 cap off the tee and irons. Played like a 3-4 around / on the greens. I was embarrassed off the tee and could absolutely not hit an iron. It just felt bad.

 

The course was overley meh. I expected much more being the only course on the actual outer banks. 2 holes along the sound, but was not impressed with the rest of the course. Everything was oddly long. Greens, fairway, rough. Just not cut to normal standards. Maybe due to the wind.

 

Waiting to check in, I look at the guy in front of me and think "he just looks like a golfer." He checks in at 3:16 with me and I jump in the cart with him. He is whining about being sore and not Knowing if he can hit a ball. Part ways until the 1st tee. Asks what boxes I play and told him as far back or forward as he'd like. We walk back to the back tees. He needed another set further back. Single best player I have played with. He was -2 with an extremely easy / tight game. Beautiful to watch. Made 2 bogeys on 16 and 18 to finish even par. It was really awesome to watch. Really cool guy, great convo the entire round, gave me tips and round thoughts. Great experience. Man crush. Wow.

 

Putted and chipped well on my end. That's it. I would have been livid with the full rate, but got out on a golfnow for $49 and was definitely pleased with that.

 

Edit* the real winner today was my wallet. Don't mind the Tex text, I was catching crabs. The sand variety of course.

DT - Thanks for the info on Currituck, we are headed down there August 7-14 with all of my wifes family and I was thinking about maybe playing either Currituck or Duck Woods.

 

I am still 95% sure I didn't see any TWs at Ross last night, but now I am wondering if I just didn't look hard enough. Might have to make another stop later this week.

I guess this Ross stuff is why I was finally able to find a <$50 pair of LC3s on eBay. Fine by me.

 

I did not like the LC2 and don't like the look of the 4, but the LC3 fits me even better than my Dryjoy Tours.

According to the website, 5:53 average (my MEDIAN is going to be way lower. The 5:53 skewed by the occasional troublesome puzzle). Today, 4:35, which was a good solve on a sort of tricky puzzle, if I say so myself. When I solved it, it put me 29th out of 8009 solvers (the numbers keep changing as the east coast wakes up).

 

I don't know the online name analog to the real life name of all the top solvers, but two of the best solvers in the country (including the reigning champion) solved in 3:02 and 3:36 today, for comparison.

Yeah, I've snagged shoes on eBay before. I'm not really into red or black shoes, but I like my TW 15s enough to pay $30 for a pair in one of those colors. Not enough to pay double that, though. I'm sure those are just the flippers, clearing out the racks at Ross and running home to list them on eBay.
