Ok, yeah Fabb wins. I was astonished at how great the K grind was out of the sand, and became more and more frustrated with the round blunt edge on my current Mizunos. Placed an order today for a pair of TVDs, which will bring my bag distribution officially to 6 brands.

Agreed. I have the K grind on my 60 and it is amazing out of the sand but Fabb gets credit for initially suggesting them.

How hilly is the cart-required one. Front Royal has some terrain to it. The cart may be a necessity with ups and downs, and distances between holes. Imagine you could walk if its possible on the nicer days, but still have the ability to ride in club events or during the heat or rain or snow. And the range balls...not free, or will they slide a token across for you during a weekend round but want to you to buy them if you go out for a 3 hours session on a Tuesday?

Edit: If you are looking at 2 that are close, does one offer a range membership for cheap? Didn't realize BG has 36. Right next to Shendandoah. And BRS is right down the street. Could maybe warm up at one/do range work there. Then head over for tee time.

I played 18 of the 27 holes at Shenandoah on Friday and I could of walked it fine (I played the red and white 9, apparently the blue is a problem to walk.) BG has a $99 year range membership.

Shenandoah is $1,075 which includes Membership Dues, Cart, Driving Range, and VSGA Handicap. Course is 27 holes
BG is $1,099 which includes four complimentary guest passes(?), Half Price range ($3 for small, $5 for large) and preferred USDA Handicap Fees. Two 18 hole courses.

SV doesn't have much for tournaments and all that jazz. Though that doesn't matter since no one I know thats close to me golfs.
BG has a ton of stuff going on throughout the year but again, lacking in the folks that play.

Don't let what you saw from my game but the K grinds are really good. At PoS you can hit some shots with it.

Also, the TVD version of the K is a better club than the regular SM5 version. Shape and grind are both better, IMO.

I haven't really found any of the wedges nowadays to get in your way from 100 on in. Certain ones DO behave differently when you're pitching, bunkering, etc.

Hidden Creek CC in Reston was a pleasant surprise, didn't realize there was a course tucked out there. The range is halfway out onto the course, which is whack, but despite that it's a really well designed, old school parkland course (tree lined, dog-legged) set up for walking. IIRC, it's an Ed Ault design, and was sort of like Reston National and Penderbrook, just longer. Conditions were excellent and the greens were smooth and true. Some open holes where you can let rip, others were a little more placement is involved. Would definitely go back there again should the opportunity arise.
