MD/VA/DC Golfers - Ten Seconds or Less

Recommended Posts

OB on a road on about 6 of the holes. Cars driving by. Dreadful.

Still, it's a golf course. Better than a sharp stick in the eye.

I used to be in the Ravens' Marching Band.

Normally I'd be annoyed at having to ask for details, but with you I'm not.

Everyone is 6 inches from their computer monitors waiting for follow up, 827.

What follow up? Here is the rundown:

Years: 2003-2004, 2008-2011, Brief return in 2013 before leaving for good.

Games attended: A good number

Cheerleaders: Met and talked in passing, nothing more.

Players/Coaches/Front Office: Met Shayne Graham, Ozzie Newsome, Dick Cass, John Harbaugh, Donté Stallworth, LarDarius Webb. All in passing.

Rules and Regulations: No undue duress to the players or coaches. This meant you couldn't go out of your way to ask for an autograph or something. However, if they approach you, then be courteous and exchange pleasantries. Now, if you went to an Autograph session outside and was there not as a member of the organization but as a fan, you could get an autograph or picture.

Shiggles? Yes, there were.

Memorable moments: 2003 Season finale Sunday Night Football against the Bengals. The Band That Wouldn't Die Documentary (Got to meet Barry Levinson and his crew the nights they were at the complex for filming/sound capture), Multiple Playoff games, Purple Friday Roving Pep Rally Caravans.

Paid? Not at first, now they are. I always thought of our seats at the stadium and other things the Ravens did for the Band was payment enough.

Can I get a guess and a backup guess on 827 in the marching band?

Primary: sousaphone

Backup: clarinet.

Snare Drum, Started out at the end, stayed there because they wanted to have someone who knew what they were doing out near the... how can I say... Not-so-competent people and try and keep that in order, ended up as Center Snare my final 2 years.

I played the front 9 at Needwood yesterday. I had it going pretty good until hole #8. My wife called me as I was waiting on the tee and proceeded to give me a run down of her travel (she's out of town at a conference). The twosome in front of my was slow, so I just listened. By the time I got back to golf, my mojo was gone. Oh well.

Here's how it went

#1 ok drive (slightly right), decent iron (pin high, two feet off the green), decent putter chip, missed 3 footer. bogie

#2 good drive, sliced 3 wood (pin high, but 30 yards right), epic chip, tap in for par

#3 meh hybrid short, left a pitch short, 2 putt for bogie

#4 sliced drive, really good 3 wood, excellent 3h, 3 foot putt for birdie

#5 ok drive (slightly right), very good 3 wood, left pitch short, long putt, missed 4 footer, putt for bogie

#6 ok drive (slightly right), topped hybrid short, ok pitch, 2 putt for bogie

#7 hybrid short, excellent chip, tap in par

#8 ok drive (slight right), chunked 6 iron, duffed pitch, chip, 2 putt for double

#9 sliced drive, very good 3 wood, pitch, 2 putt bogie.

gotta straighten out the driver and get my pitching in better shape.

Driver all day.

If you want to be a baller, and don't swing a million MPH, you've gotta learn to love the driver.

Corollory: If you want to love golf, you gotta learn to hit the driver.

City's got a lot of good stuff happening in his swing. Its not some because of some fluke, or just because he practices that he hits the ball well.

Current analysis. . .

if you weren't flogging the bishop while dropping mad token money on large-handed girl who always wore a neck scarf, then that was an even bigger waste of money than i previously believed.

City is easily the betting favorite for low thread round of the year

CG -120

Fabb +100

Eagle +125

PQ +175

If that's true AT ALL, primary reason is I'll probably play more rounds than those 3 combined. I would NOT lay 6-5 on that against the field, though.

Abb can roll out of bed and hit 12 greens. He's been working on that putter. He also always plays long.

Nobody works harder on their game that City. There are pros who don't work as hard on their game as City. It's no coincidence that he plays as well as he does. The swing is not ideal in some ways, but it's a good golf swing because of the last frame he posted up there --- ideal impact position (spine tile away, head behind the ball, reasonable forward shaft lean, hips cleared. I think if City stayed more grounded with that back foot that he'd eliminate the wild drives even more than he already has. Still gets a little loosey goosey at the top with the big stick at times too, but none of it matters too much because he finds his way back to the ball in an ideal hitting position.

EDIT because I saw DCs post. I will have the lowest round this year out of that list. Fabb might get me, especially if he plays enough. Last year was 73 at Hobbits. I will take $5 bets that I go sub 72 at Norbeck this year. If I can get my wedge game working... LOOK OUT, right CITY?!

Was that English?

In any regards, yes, that was a VERY big waste of money.

It's all about dong position. Who has the best dong position at impact?

Well, I think that depends on their tokens and their ability to flog a bishop. But in any regards, that's a bad betting table in any sense. The smarter money is on City due to his practice antics and ability to play a metric ton. FAbb is appropriately set at current because of his skill, although the wrists will dictate whether he pounds the rock effectively or ends up causing a bad beat for some lowly gambler.

Eagle... well, the loud outfits generate an automatic 80-85 score... can he keep it together enough to win? PQ's distance is nice, but some courses don't set up well for him and that SSSSSliceeeeee... he developed at Worthington.

FTFY.

Also agree on City's work ethic, much playing and practicing = low thread round.

Valentines Day seems like the type of day where a lonely woman would try to seduce a package delivery professional. Keep us posted.

Best opportunity for that would probably be tomorrow, as I'll more than likely be dropping off Flowers/Chocolates/other Gifts. Doubt it will happen, though.
