Example question from the site:

1. Assuming that there is a decent lie, The best situation(s) to use a driver off the deck:

A. Going at a par 5 green in 2 where there is no forced carry and it is beyond the range of the 3 wood

B. Aggressive trouble recovery…When there is a fairly wide open shot out of the trees but very low overhanging limbs

C. Into a very strong head wind with little trouble except rough and we want to keep the ball very low so as to not get it up and the wind can blow it around.

D. None of the above…a driver off the deck is a stupid play regardless of the situation.

E. b & c

City's Answer: It's always a smart play. Hit driver off the deck ANYWHERE at ANYTIME. #HighIQ

The answer is D

However, A & C is the answer that anyone that hits driver off the deck would select

See, that's another example of trying to put all golfers in the same box. Heck, just in the hive a few seasons ago, there were a handful that didn't even have driver in the bag. Either the mini or Tour Spoon was the in thing at the time.

And if you want some more of that line of thinking, take a peek at the thread were the guy says that course ratings don't account for long ball hitters. Not all courses are created out of the same template, or fit certain criteria. This isn't bowling man.

Someone will have to break down for me why "Potentially all of the above" is not a good answer.

For me...

Recovery shot option is going to be a low punch long iron (if no trees are in front of me ---shivers)

However, I just recently starting using driver off the deck (once) it was very successful but doubt it would be a high % shot for me to use regularly.

I've done "B" several times in competition and can remember 1 or 2 times I've done C and never done A. In competition.

You do A, B and C for "fun" so that you're ready to do B when the situation warrants.

The important piece here. I would not trust myself to do it in competition or even a serious match.

D, every time. Risking jacking up my driver I just spent more than any other club on a per club basis in my bag just doesn't make sense. When I am no longer paying for my clubs, then I will practice hitting driver off the deck. But this time of year, especially; HELL. NO. THANK. YOU.

Here is another one...

Most of the time I should:

A. Tee the ball up on the best side of the tee box for the proper shot to approach the green or fairway.

B. Tee the ball up in the middle of the tee...always

C. Tee the ball up a little higher to take some yardage off of a club

D. Make sure I am teeing the ball up on a flat area

E. Tee the ball up on the left side for a draw, tee the ball up on the right for a fade

F. All except b

Where I tee the ball up is actually something I don't think that I pay enough attention to.

What about an event where everyone has only one golf ball and the winner is the person who gets the farthest before losing it? I like that.

combine it with your "race" format, and you've got a winner.

maybe we can play with blades too?

is that a good idea?

we'll call it the BOB.

Blades Only B**ches.

we'll all go out and buy salvation army blade sets for sub $30.

this is gonna be so much fun.

i'll leave it to domes to flesh out the planning.

nothing can go wrong with that, right?

I was watching some golf with ahoop on Sunday #dormliving and we talked about this question:

GTW: Will tiger woods ever again play four consecutive rounds in an event with a weekend cut (excluding events with no cut like his hero thing/wgc etc...)?

The easy answer right now is to say no.

But I'm thinking the answer might actually be no.

No.

He took...15 months away from competitive golf and lasted how long? Now he's having back spasms that - allegedly - are not part of the original problem?

At some point he's going to pull the plug on this "comeback". Whether the pain gets him or not the general humiliation will at some point. I've dealt with a bad back for a long time and sitting in a chair answering questions wouldn't have killed him. Guarantee he's out at other sponsor functions today/this week though.

GTW:

I really want the answer to be yes, but it is looking more and more likely that it will be a no. I will still hold out some hope though.

There are some odds making sites that have given odds on whether or not Tiger will retire by the end of the year. Like:

-280 that he doesn't retire

+500 that he does retire

That has to be free money right? Surely, he will still play in the Master's every year. Maybe the British. Maybe the PGA. I just don't see him being done forever by the end of the year.

No you don't. Cart path.

Also, there's not a chance you played the first 5 holes without losing a ball.
