I am bumping this thread again as I contacted Ping CS (by email) and after a long delay they came back to me recently and advised me about the zz65 weight issue. It looks like zz65 are not constant weight but instead are descending weights ranging from 123 g (2 iron) to 111 g (wedge). Here is the weight breakdown as set out in the Ping CS email (he also explained that these are for raw lengths and each raw length was 2” over standard men’s length (for the applicable shaft)).

Good heavens, more conflicting information. Apparently we can't believe anyone anymore. At any rate, I know for a fact that CFS is descending weight, and the step pattern for Z-Z65 is right in between CFS S and X. If they are indeed descending weight that would suggest they are truly in between these two CFS flexes in almost all regards.

Update again. I wrote Ping and asked the following:

Hi, on GolfWRX.com a member with the user name "PING" (listed as a sponsor) stated the following (11 October, 2011): "The Z-Z65 shaft is constant weight.". All well and good, but a member from Canada posted information he received in writing from Ping detailing the weight of Z-Z65 and they are descending weight (ranging from 123g (2-iron) to 111g (wedge). Please clear up the confusion if you would. Thanks in advance. Ed

Ping reply: The ZZ-65 is a constant weight shaft. The only variable weighted shaft we have made is our AWT (Ascending Weight Technology).

I know for a fact that CFS is descending weight so I have no clue why Ping wrote what they did. I'm putting my money on the info that details actual shaft weight, which means Z-Z65 is descending weight.

BTW, it's pretty crappy that Ping can't provide some accurate information. Absurd even.

Thanks. Yes, frustrating that this cannot be cleared up.

I briefly had a set of i25s w/ zz65. I didn't pull them and weigh them but from my experience I would guess that they were descending weight (the PW felt lighter in weight than the 4i even though the swingweights were apparently the same, etc).

FWIW, the email I got from the Ping CS providing the shaft by shafts weight said that the info was from their Engineering Department.
