Strange. I was actually wondering about something else with Harrington too... earlier in the season, I saw him hit what clearly appeared to be a Callaway X fairway wood, then put a Wilson headcover on it. Anybody know anything about that? Is there a possible Harrington/Callaway relationship in the future? He's already got the Odyssey putter.

whatever it is seems to be working, he is in the lead at the moment in the wachovia so the weird putter shaft and his callaway 3 wood mus be doing the job for atleast one day

Padraig has used mostly Callaway fairway woods for quite a while now, he previously had a steelhead plus. He swaps Wilson fairways in every now and then (used to had a Fw5 5 wood I think) but Callaway has been a pretty strong theme for that part of his bag for a while now. Anyone know if he's still using a Callaway ball?

He used a Callaway xtour 3wood today, and has used a steelhead in the past.

 

The putter shaft has two weights just below the grip, not sure how heavy.

I got a chance to putt with a centre shaft odyssey prototype Padraig had in February, it had similar weights but unlike the pic posted the two weights were separated by about 1cm. I believe that there was some conformity issue with the weights being separated and see from the close-up pic that its a single unit.

Strange sensation when you hit a putt - you feel a recoil? - but obviously works well!

Expect to see more like this in future , judging from Padraigs putting stats

He's used a Cally 3 wood for years and years.... The weights in the top of the putter is similar to the Kirk Currie series of putters Wilson have out, where you can add weight inside the putter grip...it's an odd sensation, but if it works.....

spent some time with Paul Hurrion in the winter (a biomechanist who works with harrington) who said that he was developing a shaft with Yes golf to allow players to use shorter putters and get into a better postural position while retaining feel . my guess is this could be it. worth checking Hurrion out(quintic.com) very interesting guy who uses bio-mechanics to help in a variety of sports particularly golf and is very open to different ideas or ways to get the job done

Not sure how it works but it certainly does! Harrington himself is quoted as saying he hasn't changed his putter just theshaft and that this new shaft, with the 2 lead weights at the top end, is so good it should be illegal.

 

Expect a lot more players to be trying it out very soon.

It also looks like he's using a regular club grip, not a putter grip, and it looks like the grip is cut off on the bottom--it has no taper. Weird.

Regarding Harringtons putter.

 

It is not a fishing float LOl, it is in fact a Torpedo.

 

Be prepared to sink more putts ( not ships)
