If you want something like this an are patient, a little lucky, and live near a university you can get table tops like these if you spend enough time stopping through the university's surplus storage facility. Most schools have such a warehouse for surplus goods and they sell off stuff dirt cheap (usually: the stuff is surplus and so they just want to get rid of it, but some schools have come to see these as fundraising opportunities). A friend of mine got old chemistry tables like the ones you described for $10 a pop once at Purdue surplus.

So, if you live near a school and they are in a refurbishing/rebuilding stage, swing through and you might get lucky.
