Cleveland TL 310 driver, shaft help?

Hey y'all! I am a taller golfer (6'4") with a smooth tempo swing (some have likened it to Ernie els but obviously results vary) and I currently play a ping g15 at 9 degrees with a stock stiff shaft.

 

I've always hit driver very well. Not especially long, but I hit most fairways and can vary my trajectory and shot shape on command (typically). I've loved this driver but I hit it a few times over the weekend and noticed it sounded strang, took it to golf galaxy and the face is cracked.

 

I found a deal on a Cleveland TL 310 with a few shaft options. I would like to go to 8.5 degrees, shafts as follows:

 

Miyazaki dromos 61

Miyazaki ckua 59

Adila voodoo s7

 

What do u think would work the best? I know it's an open question, but I don't have a chance to hit it, but the price is great.

Don't know it this is an option available to you, but since the Cleveland TL 310 is virtually the same head as the Clevleand Classic 310, (same head and shape, different cosmetics), I am confident the Miyazaki Kusala Black 61 (stock shaft in the Classic 310), would as well in the Cleveland TL 310 as it does in the Classic 310.

IMO, the Kusala Black 61 is one of the finest driver shafts ever made. It is a lower launching shaft, and the TL 310 is also a low launching head, so a 9.5* loft in the TL 310 Driver is choice you may want to consider too. Both Cleveland Drivers mentioned have a more penetrating (Tour-like) trajectory than most other drivers.

Awesome advice! I don't have that option in what's available, but I'm gonna go dig and see what the price might be for one of the two drivers with that shat.

The TL310 came stock with the ckua 59. The head-shaft-and grip were all thoughtfully designed to make for an especially light dead weight driver with a relatively high swing weight. Due to its light overall weight, as well as the ckua59 shaft characteristics, this driver will only perform well if the player has a relaxed, smooth tempo. Finally, the TL310's relatively deep face, combined with the Ckua 59, results in a low launching driver. I suggest buying the 10.5* loft.

Thanks for the input. I am just a bit concerned about going the high because my ping was a 9 degree. But I suppose the g15 was built for higher trajectory drives (I hit the ball high when I get lazy).

The Cleveland TL310 is not nearly as forgiving of a driver as the Ping G15. However, if you have an easy paced smooth swing tempo then the TL310 may work well for you. I expect that for shot trajectory the TL 310 in 10.5* loft will be comparable to the Ping G15 9*.

All that said, if you ave enjoyed playing your Ping G15 then you might be best served to buy another Ping G series driver. The Cleveland TL310 is so very much different (from the Ping G15) that there is a good chance you will not like the TL310.

I have a 310tl with the stock ckua and a smooth swing. On good days it is the best/longest driver I have. But it hurts me too bad on off days to be in the bag full time. If you liked your g series I might go back to it. The 310 would probably play closer to an i series. However, for the better driver, not sure there is a better bang for your buck than a 310.
