So my partner for the US Four Ball qualifier is unable to play, which means I will be going it alone. Pauma Valley CC in north San Diego county. I will have to shoot 66 or 67 on my own ball. Not at all likely, but not impossible. At least I won't be feeling much pressure!!

While this wasn't the US four ball, about 10 years ago I shot 71 in a best ball tournament on my own ball... Our best ball score? 71. Yep, partner didn't help a stitch. I still like to remind him of this fact every now and then ;-)

We won by 5! lol.

At the time it was my best score by probably 3-4 shots. I figured since it was a gross tournament, that there would be a ton of good players there... but as I'm watching everyone on the range, I said to myself "dang, you're the best player here!"

Confidence carried me that entire round.

Just keep it fun. Everything else will fall right into place then. It's golf - not life and death. Worst case, you are still out there on a beautiful course playing the most wonderful game in the world.

All a matter of how you go into it. As you step onto that first tee take a deep breath, look around and take it all in, and appreciate the moment. It'll make for better memories.

Course played long and relentless. 7100 yards and par 70. I started out par, bogey, bogey, double and was out of it before I ever got started.

Par 71. Sorry.

Bummer good effort. That sounds like a tough course 70 and over 7000 yds.
