Bushnell Tour X rain proof / Water proof question?

So on the Bushnell web site it says that the Bushnell Pro X is Rain proof, it is not water proof.

 

The Bushnell web site says that the Pro X7 is Water Proof.

 

Why in the world would they not make the Pro X water proof as well?

 

For anyone who works for the company or knows people who work for the company, will the company design the Pro X so it is Water proof in the near future, like the Pro X7?

 

 

I like the changeable face plate that allows for slope and when it's off it's tournament or handicap legal, but for $499 I can't believe it's not water proof!

 

The pro X7 is not slope and then there is a Pro x7 with slope. Either it's their or it's not on the Pro X7 modles. The plus is they are water proof.

 

So I would like the pro X to be water proof! Is this to much to ask?

If you don't plan on changing face plates simply put a few wraps of vinyl tape around the face plate where it seals to the body. It might not be pretty but it will help.

The problem is the faceplate isn't permanent and water can get into the interlock switch that enables and disables slope.

I agree, I was really looking forward to this. I have the X7 now and wanted something smaller and this was exactly what I was looking for - but not being waterproof is a nonstarter.

Odd since the Leupold Gx4i2 is fully waterproof but has the interchangeable face plates. My experience has always been though that the Bushnells are a hair quicker in picking up the flag. Might end up checking out the Leupold though.

Agreed. I have the Z6 and have used it in drizzles and never had a problem. Plus it's small enough that I just put it in my pocket - no problems about losing it.

i have the tour x and wish that my z6 was never stolen. the z6 is an awesome rangefinder.

I can attest, from bitter personal experience, that the Tour X is not waterproof. The area around the focal adjustment is a screen door. I had an accident where my pushcart rolled into a lake, just a few seconds in the water killed my tour x. Water all throughout the electronics and optics. Looking for something a bit more waterproof now
