Black Friday Thrift Shop Purchase

I think I am already a junkie about this. I keep going in looking for interesting W/S stuff and something else keeps catching my eye.

In this case, it was a full set of Wilson clubs, but they weren't that exciting to me personally. It was a lady's set of what I take to be the retail models...and not too old (another post on them). But, there was another set of irons in the bag that I didn't recognize and the bag was sitting on a cart that DID interest me... a fairly new Wilson push/pull (what's the difference?) cart. Since that was all of the golf stuff that this store had, I asked how much each for "those clubs". The answer was $5 for it all. "Including the bag and cart?" "Yep....everything there." "I'll TAKE it".

Let's see: The Wilson cart that I wanted should certainly be worth $5. SOMEBODY would surely love to have a nice Spalding carry bag. There has got to be some nice South Carolina Lady that remembers playing with those exact irons and woods. Total = Good Deal, IMO.

Nice haul! It seems that since I put my clubs away I have come across something on eBay about once a week that is calling out my name... Must resist! I didn't have too much trouble staying clean during the season, but I find the winter months to be particularly trying... :help:

Great Deal!

The local Goodwill has really raised prices in the last year or so. Last week, beat up no name metal woods have $5.99 stickers on them. Used to be $1.99. II don't visit often, have enough clubs, but haven't seen anything worth buying in a couple years.

They did have a nice orange and black Power Bilt stand bag for $6.99. It was in good shape, I just didn't need it.

My first scary thought was: "Wow, now I need a set of Classic Spalding clubs to go in this bag." Of course, then I'd need a more classic Spalding bag........

Golf clubs disappeared from the thrifts about a month ago, replaced by hockey sticks and skis. So I'm in withdrawal mode. Last score of the season was a minty black Hot Z cart bag for $10. I find enough "stuff" at thrifts (best luck is at a couple of "Sally's" near affluent areas) to keep me looking on a fairly regular basis. 95% of the time, it's riff-raff. But it is exciting when one stumbles into the good stuff. Never know what I'm looking for, but I know it when I see it! Ebay doesn't scratch the itch quite like scrounging at the thrifts and garage sales.

I have noticed some inflation of club prices this season. Going from $1.99 per to $4.99 per. I have become more selective now, with these inflated prices. Outrageous. LOL.

A good set of Spaulding blades would not be a bad choice. They made some exceptional clubs back in the day, and they would fit nicely in that bag.

Same thing here. Clubs at my local Goodwills are always $1.99 regardless. Traveled about 100 miles east last week and happened in the local Goodwill store. There was a beautiful set of Tommy Armour 845 S's missing an 8 and 9 iron. They wanted $4.99 per club. I put them back.
