Yamaha irons

Heading to the Masters next week (tickets only for Wed practice though), I might try to get my set reshafted too... you got my attention with that little experiment of yours!

reshafted the set with NS dps( modus 120 protos). only hit the 6 and 7 on course last week so far but it seems like the new shaft has REALLY brought the set to life, they felt great, and went !!!!

The shafts added a few yards over the original DG things. VERY finicky to reshaft due to the pin in the hosel that needs to be removed and swing weight issues, I had to build them 1/2 inich over my standard to accomodate the weight issues. but I simply choke down a smidge and its ok.

u can get pretty funky with these they go all over the places if u so choose, very unlike modern design, extra long, thin , really thin topline and semi thick sole, these tell u when u have missed the centre, which I like.

 

might take these to the links and play a few rounds with em to really test their mettle.

 

impact from centre is as good any thing ive got bagged these days . and they simply look freeeeeeekign good in my bag.

 

proves once again everything (new) that glitters aint necessarily more golden!

 

might grab another set of 2010 tour models sans the Pw.. Yamaha PW really fkk irks me , its a square.edge shovel . hate it... rest of the set is fine, JDM have always had a PW conundrum.

 

I bought a cpl of yururi 46* 2010 raw heads, had one reset to48* and I play that with a lot of my sets to offset the offset issues I have with the PWedges.

 

yammhy 2008-2011 are THE NUTS.. those ones are ENDO forged, try em , they are cheap as these days!!

got a set of these badboys with modus 105x

played around with the paintfill they ccame out well esp with the blue pefect pro cord grips and red lettering of the modus shafts.

 

quite like.playing these guys, they are all about precision, they frame the ball especially well, if u like a square look these are excellent... also found they do have a distance issue that I needed to address, as i added an extra 1/2 inch length to them they no longer flew the "old " shorter distance with a.............. proper............... 48* pw.

thet prob fly the same as the new 46* style which is a nice addition.. as I can play my 52*/ 56* Yamaha raw blacks wedges with them, the FULL yanmmy bag sgud be done soon, just trying to lock down a decent IFF 16.5* fw to complete the set.

Nice looking sticks! They are about as difficult to hit as it gets. I have the Suttons with TTS400 - Interested to see how the Modus 105X fly

I've owned the 2014 and 2015 rmx tour models and they are both great. I've hit the new rmx 018 tour model 7 iron. 018 tour model is a smaller than normal blade, felt great, and was easy to hit, but what 7 iron isn't. I don't think Yamaha makes any lemons.

Hey guys, just bumping this thread and wondering if anyone knows anything about the Yamaha sx-251 tour pro irons. I picked up set locally and would like to know what i have in terms of specs, year of production etc. I'm guessing they are about 20-25 - years old but have no idea. I assume they were a Japan only set as i can't find info on them online. I have them for sale and I'm hoping they are worth something as they are in great shape and likely a unique set of sticks. Anyways, here's a pic- any help or insight is much appreciated.

I've got the SX25 Hal Sutton and the SX351. Great clubs. I think they are forged by Endo, just comparing them with Epon's Technity series. And of course they were designed by the fellow who now does Fourteen.

 

The specs on this ought to be fairly close.
