How do you keep up with your rangefinder?

Recommended Posts

Well I finally lost my Bushnell V2 that I bought around 2008. It really amazed me that I kept it for that long. I probably left it in the cart after a round 10 times over the years, but miraculously it kept coming back to me. This time, I lost it on the course, while walking and couldn't find it when i went back. This followed by torrential downpours and the lack of waterproofing for the V2 have led me to believe that she is really gone this time.

Well I went ahead and bought a z6 and was wondering if any of you have ways that you keep your rangefinder out of harms way.

I have seen different retractable tether type systems that you could attach to your bag, but that would not really work if it was cart path only. And, I am not sure that I want a $400 rangefinder hanging off the side. I guess I could just try to get in a habit of putting it back into its case after every use, but I am not sure that is realistic.

Anyways, just looking for ideas.

I also have a Bushnell V3. When I walk it stays in its case which is clipped to the outside of my bag.. When I ride I put it in one of the cup holders.

When I lived in Palm Springs my pervious Bushnell was also in its case clipped on the outside of my bag. Sadly some dirtbag stole it when the bag was outside of the pro shop. In retrospect, having it on the outside of the bag was not a good idea, at least in SoCal.

I put in a drawer and got a golf watch. Love it. All I need is front back and middle. I'm not good enough to take advantage of what difference there may be. I like it because its fast and always there when I look down and I can use it to measure shots played. My range finder though was always clipped to the bag like RS did. I think that is the recommended way to carry it? No?. Ian still uses it in tournaments. I was actually more afraid the little plastic clip breaking while bounding around on the cart than it getting stolen. As much as I really liked my Bushnell I often found myself far away from the cart when I needed it. On cart path only days it would happen repeatedly. Around here they wont let you walk except in tournaments.

I keep it around my wife's neck. She reads all my distances since she doesn't play anymore. Plus, if it would ever get lost, I'd know who to blame!!

I also have a new Sun Mountain C-130 bags that has a fleece-lined dedicated rangefinder pocket right up front for easy access. The pocket is deep so a case is not needed. A spare battery is kept in the bottom of the pocket in a plastic snack bag just in case.

I use the Caddie Buddy GPS mount for my Garmin G6.

They also have lots of mounts for laser rangefinders as well as for other GPS units.

After leaving my rangefinder in the dark glove boxes of a cart more than once, I finally bought this case from Amazon. I strap it to the cart windshield post if riding, and around the bag if not. (look at the review photo). It's bright orange!

At least two of my partners have purchased one since seeing mine. It works great.

Although it's not available at Amazon currently, I'm sure you can find one on Ebay.

You can thank me later! I have given away a handful of these and everyone who sees it, wants one.

This looks like a pretty solid product. I hate having to pull my RF out of the case every time but I'm too paranoid about just tossing it into the cubby.

Its simple... thats why it works. Keeps everything safe, convenient, and in sight. Not trying to sound like PR for these things, but I really do love them.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
