Any 65+ using DNG S300?

Owned 43 sets of irons of all types and all with steel shafts until a rotor cuff injury in Oct 2014. Went to Recoil F3s and indeed they fit the bill after injury. That said ever once in awhile I will pick up a players type Mizuno or similar with heavier shafts in steel and a lot of swings just feel substantial plus the club holds the plane well. Eventhough I have religiously worked out hard 5 to 7 days a week for 40 + years and 5'10" 235 and strong as a ox my swing speed declines with age and at 90 with driver,

How many of you old farts ( I will be 69 in 3 weeks so I can talk like that,LOL)still play heavier steel by choice and in particular after you play graphite in irons? Also going back to more demanding players irons after SGI and GI type sticks?

Used graphite for a few years because.....thought that was what I was suppose to use at my "advancing" age". Now realize it was a mistake. Could never feel the club during the swing. Went back to steel three seasons ago. But not to DG S300 weight. Preference is for a lighter weight shaft. Like the Nippon 950's that I have in my '99 Apexs. Use stock CFS in my Pings, but they do create "moon shots" most of the time. Installed old school FCM Rifles 5.5's in a recent overhaul of a set of Apex II's that show promise.

But hanging out around here, getting into this whole vintage/classic club thing, requires a certain "flexibility" when it comes to the type of shaft played in one's irons. Have something of everything it seems. As long as I can get the length right, try to remove spec from my thought processes while playing a set. Unnecessarily clutters my mind.

Guess I'm the young pup ITT so far at 64+.

I'm younger still (57) and have 75 gm graphite shafts in my i25's. They're pretty light and it takes a bit of time to adjust, but when playing a full modern bag of present day vintage shaft weight progressions seem to work ok for me going from 60 gm in woods to 75 gm in irons to 100 gm in wedges. It keeps the swing weight progression about right too.

When I have been gaming vintage clubs I have either Precision FCM 5.5 or TTDG FM 5.5. The flex and bend point are similar so they play similar and seem to work just fine with even graphite shafted woods of the 100 gm variety. The TT are a bit heavier static weight than the Precisions or at least they appear that way.

I've never used anything stiffer than firm for any length of time. I like a shaft that loads a bit and is smooth rather than some tight feeling shafts. I can hit S300 about as far as R300, but prefer the feel of the softer flex shaft. I've suffered through bouts of tendinitis over the years and have come to the conclusion that having a shock absorbing grip and good, clean turf interaction from a swing appropriate sole grind will do as much for your elbows as graphite shafts. I'm a bit of a picker and have found that thinner soles work better for me than big thick ones in terms of reducing impact shock.

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
