The 14th club: DI/long iron versus 60*W

This whole 4-5 Wedge setup is crazy IMO... I know the Pro's do it, I get & understand that thinking. If I could hit a 195yd 6-iron, there'd be not a need at the top of bag for 215yd shot club. BUT, 215yd shot for me is a 5wd/DI in perfect conditions. I need clubs at the top for carry distance, especially 200yd+ par 3. Don't say "playing wrong tees" either....

 

Looks like you carry 4 wedges: pitching wedge, UW 50* wedge, 54*, and 58*.....or am I reading your signature wrong.

 

As long as you consider 45* a PW.... Then sure I do.... But I DON'T

I swore I'd never use a 60 deg wedge again.

 

Well, it's winter and I'm bored to death. So I picked up a sonartec 60.09 for $5 on ebay to mess around with. I feel like I should try practicing it more and may have been missing out. I will probably hate it like the last 60 I owned, but in the unlikely event that I actually like it and want to bag it, I bought the matching FOUR WOOD I've been itching on for a while now to condense the 3 and the 5 woods I've been using. Just another option to have on the rack, we'll see what happens. I'll probably just mix it up day to day depending on how adventurous I am feeling.

 

[Right now since it's winter (did I mention it's winter) I am reduced to the sim and the bubble and am screwing around with this full set as-is for a few weeks. IF I actually were to show up like this, the 3 wood should be a 4 wood ... which is another reason I picked that up.

 

I am just happy to be able to swing again without so much pain this year. Do not sit in a chair all day every day without exercising.]

Why buy a set of clubs where the pitching wedge is 45* then? Makes no sense to me! Buy a set of traditional lofted clubs so we don't have to hear you complain!

Wedges are the most important aspect of your golf bag. Never ever buy a set of irons that forces you to change your wedge set uo
