Rick Shiels M1 Vs Nike Vapor Pro

Shiels knows this, uses it to make money off you.

So how much money do you think he's making off of us by making these videos? Let's ignore the fact that numbers he gets on the completely inaccurate GC2 is in line with trackman and flightscope numbers he gets with manufacturer setups (unless of course those guys are also cheating to make money off of us. Maybe they are since they have more to gain)

Amount of time and effort it takes to create these videos for a measly sub 100k views is probably not worth the few dollars he probably will make from the ad money on youtube.

Every time rick's video gets posted you're always up in arms about it. If you don't like it then just ignore it. How in the world would he make money off of most of us are in the states to begin with

It is abundantly clear that he's not a club fitter nor a salesman. He's a golf teaching pro just like Peter who just happens to have some followers which allows them to gain access to some manufacturer gears.

Here's a long drive comp with Rick Shiels, Peter Finch, and the Meandmygolf guys at the Taylormade M1 launch event. Trackman measured 301 carry and 331 total on Rick's first drive. Seems pretty consistent with what he does on his channel when he catches one. Before anyone jumps down my throat I'm not saying GC2 is perfect but Rick can definitely bomb it.

Haha I watched expecting them to show actual numbers, not a guy behind the camera just yelling out numbers. 301 is a big carry for his swing speed

Wouldn't have mattered the doubters would then say the trackman number shot was cut from some long drive dudes video. You can't argue with a conspiracy theorist.

This has been an interesting read.

I've watched most of Shiel's videos from the beginning, Crossfield's too, and Rick's sidekick Peter Finch. Candidly, as a neural observer, I was always a bit surprised how far Rick hit the ball. But I figured he is young, fairly big, and good at contact.

What I am taking from this thread is that the GC2 internal algorithm presents a distance bias on shots with spin below a certain threshold. As it's an algorithm-based estimate (and not an actual measurement) this is not shocking. I did not know this, but I am not a fitter or a professional user of this equipment. Probably others on here learned this as well.

My observations regarding the UK guys are--from what I have seen, Mark Crossfield is smart, and self-aware. He gets heat on here but I believe he knows what he is talking about. My guess is that he is aware of the characteristics of the various monitors in use. Shiels I am less clear on, but my guess is he probably knows as well, and by disclosing what he is using, and the results he is getting, he feels he is being honest. And he is.

Would it make a difference if he said some disclaimer about the monitors? I don't know...I guess so... but he's making videos for fun/general educational purposes, not certified testing purposes. Half of the value in his videos is in seeing a new club looks wise, and getting an overall assessment of feel and performance from a pro who hits a lot of clubs. It's for fun, he likes doing it, people like to watch it. YMMV of course,

It's hilarious how upset someone can become by a simple YouTube video.

If he can hit 319 with Jamie Sadlowski's "play" driver with low loft extra extra extra stiff shaft, i think he can carry 300 yards in real life

Everyone is just jealous he is a true 300 yard driver. While everyone else claims they drive 300 yards without any proof.

I'm just a bit surprised at the Smash Factor. All things considered he is a great Golfer, but his efficiency averages under 1.45, which is only considered a decent strike. Of course, unless that algorithm is off as well. I kid, I kid... :stop:
