PEI Golf Advice

All,

Did an extensive search on here, but a lot of the information seems scant and/or outdated. So, I am reaching out to my fine friends North of the border to provide some insight into where to stay/play in PEI.

We (the wife and I) will be in Cabot checking out those gems the preceding 4 days or so, and are planning on spending 6 nights in PEI afterwards. So, I just wanted to see if anyone had any updated info on the above.

After Cabot, the focus isn't necessarily golf, but we would be looking to play 2 or 3 rounds at most. Our focus would be more on scenery (ie. being near the ocean) rather than layout, difficulty, etc.

We are open to driving around and actually would be interested in doing that, to check out all the island has to offer.

One thing that has come up frequently is The Links at Crowbush Cove, so that seems like it may be mandatory.

But any other advice, regarding itinerary, sightseeing, lodging, and especially golfing would be much appreciated!

As you can tell it's a pretty small island, so it is easy to get all the way round it via a driving tour. It's super popular for biking holidays because of how flat it is and the bike networks they have set up on the island are impressive. So if you wanted to skip the golf for a few days, that's an option.

Initial impressions may be a bit 'eh?' as you get off the bridge and are confronted with a giant McCains factory, but it only gets better from there :)

Good number of microbreweries to choose from and you have to go for a proper PEI lobster supper. It might seem a bit cheesy - and is - but it's still fun and a when in Rome thing.

I've not played golf in PEI, only been there on a non-golf holiday and had a great time. It's cool always being in close proximity to the water. Not a PEI thing as such, more a Bay of Fundy thing, but going out on a zodiac for some whale watching is an experience too.

Mill River and Brudnell are at opposite ends of the island, the scenery is wonderful getting there and the courses, some of the oldest on the island, are very nice. Don't forget Anne of Green Gables. The three courses provide an opportunity to tour the entire province while getting a very satisfactory golf fix along the way.

My two favourite on the island are Crowbush and Dundarave.

We are going to visit PEI this summer, probably play Dundarve and Crowbush as well.

Dundarave and Brudenell are at the same resort, IHMO Dunderave is the better course. I would rate Crowbush ahead of those two, it can get pretty windy there. Check out the stay and plays, it's a lot more affordable than Cabot. One night and a round at Cabot would probably get you five days of golf and accommodation in PEI.
