I need the PW (and 2I technically) to finish my set of Wilson X-31 Plus (the 1976 forged muscle cavity). Assuming no one has either but worth a shot.

I may have a PW back in storage...I've got to go into town today so I'll check & let you know what I find...maybe even a 2I, cuz I have a collection of 1 irons w/some 2's in it also.

just back...buggers! No X-31s. Now wondering if I saw them at local thrift store when I pulled out a lefty set of Harvey Penick Masters...gotta have vehicle inspection tomorrow, will check then to see if I'm correct & let you know

@bcstones I'm assuming this is a "no news is bad news" sort of situation?

yup...sorry to be somewhat tardy in responding...no X-31's in that bin, went thru it a couple of times...either my brain memory cells have been scortched in this heat or someone else got ahold of some X-31's. I'm pretty sure that in my bin of wedges & orphan clubs, there are no x-31's, I was never interested that much in Wilson, except for the Staff Tour , FG17 & Haig Ultra's.
I'll still keep an eye out.

Oh well now that you mention it, I am missing the 3-5 and 7-PW/SW in that set too... 😚

Thank you for keeping your eyes out. The X-31 Plus are honestly an incredibly underappreciated Wilson iron so if you find any I would recommend just trying to try. The slightly larger head size and muscle cavity design were probably a bit off-putting to purists back when they were originally released but the look at address was crafted to appeal to the same eye (that beautiful combo of moderate offset + squared toe +razor thin topline) and the feel at contact is just as majestic as the Staff Tour Blades. If there is anything you are looking to track down yourself please let me know and I will keep it in mind to look for when I go thrifting myself.

Thanks...not really looking for anything new, unless of course it'd be early Hogan's or any hickory shaft's I come across....but mostly any Hillerich & Bradsby Grand Slam Mars 70 set or orphan clubs circa 1957 or '58. They are H&B's general/retail line and my first ever set of clubs.

I have a number of Hogan sets pre-1991, I also keep in the play line - '91 Hogan Magnum Plus' (my first pro-line set of clubs), Browning 440's, mid '70's Haig Ultra 66 model, & Ping Eye2's.

I used to help an old Pro in his shop...learned alot & purchased a whole lot of club sets, some orphan clubs (especially putters, wedges, 1 irons, & persimmon woods) and now wish to cull the herd, so to speak...I'm pretty sure I have at least one set of Wilson DynaPower adjustable clubs, Haig Ultra's, First Flight FTD's, H&B Louiseville Slugger's (general line), MacGregor Jack Nicklaus 080, Wilson Ken Venturi's (missing one club, I think)....and my memory fails me here.

I'll keep an eye out on the X-31's....

@blades_are_life I did come across an X-31 PW yesterday....hidden in a barrel of wedges. I just cleaned it up a bit....seems to have an aluminum shaft (can't make out the shaft band beyond the W/S logo) & a Wison grip (only see a couple of cracks, feels ok)....

just checked Maltby's guide...seems to be the 1969 X-31, then again perhaps not.

It looks like the 1969 X-31 from what I remember. So close to mine 😞

That said, as I was telling @Stephen8802, after seeing the grind/bounce/sole width contrast between the FG-17 PW and FG-17 SW, I am now not sure I necessarily want the X-31 Plus PW (which looks more or less like the one pictured) with the X-31 Plus SW in a serious game situation. I suppose set completeness is still a completely valid justification though...

I might just have the FG-17 PW pull double duty. That said I am kinda curious what a regular X-31 feels like to hit...will need to ponder this a bit.

I'm a bit confused now....cuz, the '76 X-31 Plus are a kinda sorta early cavity back not a muscle back like preevious X-31's...in the '60s they were muscle backs, & the post '76 plus models are more blade like.
