Bonobos/Maide golf pants - Highland Tour Pant, Highland Pant, or Light Highland Pant

Recommended Posts

I'm curious if anyone has owned all three of these Maide/Bonobos pants? I bought a pair of Highland Tour Pants and while I like them, I wanted to check on the Highland and potentially Light Highland Pants since they are cheaper. I like the Tour ones but accidentally ordered them on FINAL SALE (which I didn't realize) and can't return them since they came with zippers by the cuffs. They are otherwise great pants but I have a hard time dealing with the zippers. They look silly and rub the ankles when you have ankle socks (which most days I do). Since the Tour version is the most expensive, I'm interested in pros and cons of the other ones: Highland and Lightweight Highland. I thought of just ordering one of each but would rather hear some feedback before pulling the trigger. Look forward to hearing from the group!

I like the Highland, do not like the Light Highland as much. Light is very thin, if I am going to wear pants that thin I might as well wear shorts. And I will try to put this delicately...with the Light Highland you can see things that you don't want to show on the golf course.

FWIW, my favorite pants from Bonobos were the Heathland(I think that's what they were called). I've got three pairs I still wear. But they stopped selling those last year.

Haven't tried anything other than the Highland. Perfect for me as I wear them mostly to the office then straight to the golf course. Stretch well but nothing too light. I will say that I think the sizes are a bit big around the waist. Every brand is different but I wear 34' in Levi's, ordered 33' in the highland, and should've ordered 32'.

Awesome pant and I'll order more in the future.

That was sadly one of my concerns so thanks for the feedback!

Appreciate the thoughts on the fit as I've learned different style Bonobos sometimes require different waists. Thanks!

I have the Highland Maide pants. In the Tailored fit. Slimmest/skinniest pants I could find in the golf world, and I love them.

When it comes to Levi's, I wear the 511 skinny's, or 510 super skinny's.

I'm a short (5'4"), chubby man. The 33x30's (rolled twice at the ankle) are a perfect fit in the Tailored Highland Pant.

Have you tried contacting Bonobos about returning them? They have excellent customer service so it's worth a shot.

I've ordered the Highland and the Light Highland before. I agree about the zipper-adjustable hems. I exchanged them for the zipper-less slim fit and found them to be the best fit. I returned the Light Highland because they were way too thin and clingy. They actually felt cheap which is the opposite of the Highland. The Highland is probably the best golf pant I have ever worn but the material is on the thicker side so it is less suitable for warmer weather.

In the Bag:

  • Titleist 690MB Forged Irons 3-PW
  • TaylorMade M3 Driver with TENSEI Blue Stiff Shaft
  • TaylorMade V-Steel 15° 3-Wood
  • Titleist Spin Milled 56° and 60° Wedges
  • Scotty Cameron Newport Mil-Spec Putter

I have all three, love all three.

For hot, muggy conditions, I prefer to play in the Highland Summer Weight pants. They're also good for those hot days where there's a chance of an afternoon shower. The pants are finished with a DWR coating and the water beads right off them. Some people have said that the feel of these pants is "clingy" or feels "cheap" but I haven't had that experience at all so I guess to each their own. They are significantly lighter and do feel thinner than the original Highland pants so keep that in mind.

For colder conditions, I'll wear the original Highland pants. They keep you reasonably warm - perfect in the Fall, or early Spring.

The Tour Highland Pant - in my humble opinion, is the absolute best golf pant in the industry. Four way stretch is unbelievably comfortable and you feel extremely athletic wearing them. Not quite as light as the Summer Weight Highland, but still very comfortable on warmer days. Has the same DWR finish for repelling water. Best part, they look and feel like a great pair of tailored pants that you can pair with a G/Fore shoes or a pair of FJ Icons.

i actually spoke with multiple people at bonobos about returning and no dice since they claimed they were final sale. I tried to tell them I would not have purchased if I knew this was the case so I did get a discount code for a future purchase. I actually pulled the trigger on the Highland and will try Light Highland later this summer in the midwestern heat. Feel like based on forum, Highland is better for off course use and fall/winter/spring wear. I don't wear pants to play in summer so not sure how much use I'll get on Light ones as we speak. Thanks again for the help everyone!

Was not a fan of the Highland Tour. Didn't feel like I could wear them to work, & I can get 4 pairs of the Adidas Ultimate pant for what 1 pair of these cost.

I really like the lightweight in the darker colors. The lighter colors show a lot of wrinkles after a few hours and could get very "revealing" on a warm day.

The standard Highland is the best of the bunch for me. Perfect for those days where you go from the office to the course. The heavier material holds up all day, shirt stays tucked, and they do not seem to show sweat.

Great feedback. I'm gonna order some Highlands since it sounds like they are the best for office and course. Since most of us on this thread have similar style/taste what shirts do you guys think go best from office to course? I have a couple of Cricket and Linksoul shirts I like.

You missed the Matte Gray flash sale but they are really good shirts that look professional for the office and transition really well to the course. The individual who started Travis Matthew started Matte Gray. Perfect shirts IMO for doing both in one day.

I just got two pair of the Highlands delivered today. I'm 5'10, 200 and got the 36-30 Slim. I could probably stand to go down an inch in the waist but other than that they're fantastic. I like them much better than the Nike Tour Performance pants I've been wearing the last couple of years. They're sturdy without feeling too heavy and feel lightweight enough to wear in the Texas heat if I'm so inclined.

  • 1 month later...

After reading this post a few days ago, I was at a local TJ Maxx and saw a pair of Bonobos pants. Didn't have the style on them but they were slim fitting pair so I decided to try them on and they were super comfortable so I bought them. They had a bunch of Bonobos, all the same style but in different colors, and a Travis Mathew pants. I picked up the Bonobos for $39.99.
