Has anyone done a combo set of i230 and blueprint s?

I’m currently i230 4i - 7i and BPS 8i - PW. Good balance of forgiveness w/ the longer clubs and workability/better turf interaction with the scoring clubs. I go 33* in the i230 7i to 37* in the BPS 8i. No issues w/ gapping (14-15 yard gap between carry #’s in that part of the bag). i230 is a bigger club head, but no major changes in swing weight, feel is close enough, etc.

Might eventually blend at the 6i or 7i (Tyrrell Hatton blends at 7i) but happy with this setup for now

Thanks for the feedback. Thinking of going 4-6 i230 and BPS 7-pw all power spec lofts in hopes to lower the spin a little. My only fear is people constantly talk like both of these irons spin off the map. I play x100 in irons so hope that also helps but coming from my srixons which I know are much lower spin it will be an adjustment. Do you have any feedback on spin with your blended set?

I’m a notorious high spin player. During my fitting ZX7’s spin lowest by my i230’s weren’t too far off. Found a shaft that worked in the i230’s. I too and thinking about blending. I posted about a week ago lol asking the same!

What shaft did you put in the i230s?

I have Fujikura Axiom 125X in my blended set and previously played Nippon 1150GH Tours in the i230s before I went BPS in 8i-PW. I tend to be lower spin across the board w/ more shallow AoA.

i230 7i w/ Axiom 125X Averages (Average of 12 different sessions on Trackman over the last 6-9 months. Indoors off mats though so probably getting a little more spin outside. Haven't had any problems holding greens so not too worried):

  • CHS: 91 mph
  • Ball Speed: 125 mph
  • Launch: 17.3*
  • Spin: 5060 rpm

So they aren’t spinning a ton for you even being a lower spinning player. That’s good to see was just real worried these would spin off the map.

The i230s are higher spin.  The long irons in particular.

the blueprint s are not a high spin iron.  They are mid to even lower spin compared to other irons in its category.

I'm doing a Ping fitting tomorrow and will be looking at doing something along those lines. i230 5i, 6-8i S, 9/P T. My problem is that I am guessing they do a fitting with only a 6 or 7 iron so I wont really be able to look at the Ts in person. I'll play it by ear at that point.

Was this an option to try at their fittings? My second fitting issue is that normally the graphite options can be limited.

I’m seeing some people say they actually hit the BPS further than the i230 due to how much the i230 spin. I know they are the same lofts but that makes trying to combo 230 long irons and bps short irons a little difficult. Any who have done so seeing this?

I own 230s in powerspec and have tested bps 9,7, and 4 irons.  Bps is longer carry distances across all clubs and gap widens as the clubs gets longer

stock carry Yardages

9 -   i230=155     Bps=160

7 - i230= 180.   Bps = 187

4 - i230= 218.  Bps = 228

Thanks for the feedback! I know Hatton is playing the i230 BPS combo set, must have weakened BPS or strengthened i230

Are these standard spec in BPS?

Took my first look at the Blueprint S yesterday, I currently play the I230's. Had an 8 iron from both sets side by side and was surprised at the size difference, the Blueprints seemed much more compact to my eye, wasn't expecting that much difference. Definitely something to consider for those coming from the i230's.

Yup. Standard loft in bps.  Same shaft - x100 in both

So you're suggesting that if I have power spec 230s, I should match them up with non-power spec BP-S in the short irons?

Any indication on flight? Apex/descent angle?

I’d say it player dependant so it’s tough to answer that.

Apex was around the same for both (110-120) ballspeed was the within a mph (128-130mph with 7).  Decent was 47-50 with both and mostly dependent on if it was a draw or fade.  Spin was about 6000 with the bps and 6400-6500 with i230.  The bps also seems to launch and rise to their apex a bit more whereas the i230 feels like it gets up to an apex quick flattens out.
