Club fitting question

I 31 years old and live in Auburn, AL and never been fit for clubs. Currently shooting in the low 80's. The only real option here to get fit is at DSG.

 

I'm wanting to get fit for the whole bag. Would it be worth it to make the trip to Atlanta for a free fitting at the PGA Tour Superstore? Would it be even more worth it to go to Club Champion and pay the $350 for a full bag fitting?

Can you post what is in the bag currently with club make/model, degree of loft/club # and shafts in each. Some avg distance stats for driver, fairway, irons, wedges if you know. What is your typical ball flight for woods/irons? What club or clubs do you think need to be made more efficient? Are you ready to replace the full bag? You believe the arrow is holding you back from lower scores? If you are just curious to see if your current bag suits your swing, then I would say the PGA Superstore, if you feel your swing is good, but clubs need to be tweaked for max efficiency, then Club Champion. Just my humble hacker opinion though.

Driver: Vapor fly 10.5 tensei 50 stiff shaft (distance 250)

 

3w: Vapor Fly 13* tensei 65 stiff shaft (distance 240)

 

Hybrids: Vapor Fly 3 (20*) & 4 (23*) tensei 80hy stiff shafts (distance 4 hybrid 195)

 

Irons: Vapor fly Standard loft and lie 5-aw true temper zt 85 stiff shaft (7 iron goes 160)

 

Wedges: Nike engage 54* & 60* square with true temper gold (54* distance 105)

 

Putter: Nike Method origin b1-01 35"

 

Grips: Golf Pride Mid size

 

I'm 6'0 240lbs size XL glove

 

Ball trajectory is medium to high and I draw the ball with an occasional hook thrown in. The swing can always get better, but I think getting custom fit could help take my game to the next level.

Unlikely. A retail store fitting is a retail store fitting. How good it ends up being is a roll of the dice. Sometimes you can get lucky and run across someone who actually knows something about fittings but typically you don't.

Possibly, they do have a very good reputation for having good fitters. Their prices for the actual clubs and club work is high but once you get your specs, you can always go elsewhere to custom order the clubs.

 

How much benefit one might get from a professional fitting is always a tough guestion to answer as it largely depends on how far off the specs of the current clubs are and you wont know that until after you go through the fitting.

The place Auburn even has inFlight! I would go there, even if you dont want pings, you will know what Lie angle/Length you should get.
