Changing Low Burners to Good Carry Distance

I've got a carry issue with my Driver and 3 Wood!

Driver is 9.5* Ping i25 Regular Stock Shaft

3 Wood is a Ping i25 Regular Stock Shaft

I've had i15, G25's as well in both Stiff and Regular shafts and various degrees of loft. My best distance is with the i15 with 8.5* of loft but less carry.

My driver Swing speed varies based on stiffness and aches and pains from say 98-108 mph.

I'm fairly eradic on hitting the club face at this point in time (long lay-off from playing), but when I flush one my drives can get out to 285 or so with a low piercing burner that carries maybe 215-225 yards and roll forever!

Same with my 3 Wood. I can finish out at 260 yards with 180-190 yards of carry.

I can't clear water hazards or sand traps on the green! I've tried moving the ball forward and back in my stance with no help. I get to the point of hitting bad shots at the extremes based on ball placement.

Since ball position doesn't seem to make much difference, I would suggest weakening the loft on your driver and changing out your 3 wood to a 4 or something around 18 degrees. Experiment with driver lofts of 11-13 degrees.

with your driver keep the ball off your front foot, but start you swing from the ground 6-8 inched behind the ball. this will help with getting the angle of attack up, and launch the ball higher.

Loft...and a potential swing issue. If you are having trouble elevating the ball why use a driver with 8.5 or 9.5 loft?

You need higher loft.

I am about your same swing speed. My distance with driver is around 270 carry.

Hitting up helped me tremendously.

Tee the ball barely inside left foot.

Half the ball above the clubhead.

In order for this to work, your body has to be in the 'reverse-k' set up.

I tried without the K, and all of my shots went wild.

Google the 'reverse-k', and try it.

Don't go too far with it. Just enough to lower your right shoulder and keep head behind ball.

I had a similar issue with getting low lasers from the driver that rolled a mile with minimal carry, despite getting towering heights from my woods / hybrids / irons.

Bought one of those ten-packs of weighted adhesive tungsten squares and placed a few strategically in the far rear-center sole (more weight in rear = higher flight) and along the sole's toe side (to keep from shutting the face early and preventing hooks - it's a K15 so the weighting is naturally a bit draw biased.)

For me this worked like an *absolute miracle* the first time out, and still works perfectly to date. Fwiw, the shaft was already shortened and thus tbe clubhead surely had a too-light swingweight as it was before the tungsten, but I still hit it well, if low and straight. Now it's optimal and I'll sometimes take a square off if I want to dial the traj back down a notch.

Once you find the placement you like consider adding a more powerful adhesive, as they can sometimes be prone to falling off in the course of play or bag chatter / headcover removal.
