He's one of the many golf club reviewers out there and has been around for some time now. Personally I like Shiels, Crossfield and Newton better but he's honest in his reviews.

I think the golfalot guy is actually pretty knowledgeable, as is Crossfield even if he's semi abrasive. Shiels on the other hand seems to have read the PGA Superstore ad board on the product and then proceeds to hit everything off a mat. No discussion of turf interaction, etc. 95% of his reviews are worthless.

Agreed. Baffled that shiels gained as much traction as he did. Equivalent of any club pro hitting stock clubs off mats and going erm eh yup yup, good club. Hits non stop Massive hooks, claims to crush club when it's 40y offline.

I guess golf YouTube doesn't have much competition for personalities though.

I personally like pluggedingolf the most. They don't claim to be great players so their reviews are very good for the majority of golfers. Doesn't seem like push any particular brand either

The guy just seems like he decided to do reviews to get free stuff and really just started to learn about equipment basics a few years back. I don't get the following at all. This is the type of thing that's making me push my boss to do useful review videos that mimic our review threads in both format and information. Hopefully I'll get the green light. I agree with you as well that any club pro with an ad brochure could do the exact same thing.

Youd have a huge WRX support for that buddy. You actually know what youre talking about and at a very high level. Simple as that.

It wouldn't be just me. It would be a group review with 8-12 players for each product. We would also have player profile videos which detail their swings and explain their needs and what generally works best for them, so that as you watch the review videos, you would know which player is most similar to you so that you could pay special attention to that data.

I would agree that Plugged In Golf is a really good review site. And don't forget My Golf Spy as well which might be the best review site out there (aside from WRX of course). Both sites really explain what the club does in simple language. WRX also does pretty nice reviews as well and also takes advantage of Shiels and Crossfield for cross platform links which is nice. A few others to consider are Mike Newton and Ali Taylor on youtube, and Chris Ryan (he has his own channel for swing coaching but reviews clubs for Todays Golfer also). Lots of options to get a better idea of clubs these days, but I would say PIG and MGS provide some of the best information.

I watch Shiels to laugh at how impressed he is with himself when the ball goes far. I would not buy or not buy anything based on what he says. When he starts talking about clubs being for a good player only or for a mid- to high-handicapper, it is nonsense. I would say his following is mainly due to a dearth of alternatives.

Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond 10.5 w/Diamana TB 60S

PXG GEN6 5 wood w/Diamana S-plus 70 stiff

Yamaha RMX VD 7 wood w/Diamana S-plus 70 stiff

Callaway Mavrik Pro hybrid (22) w/Aldila Tour Blue 85 stiff hybrid

Wilson Staff Model CB 5-G w/DG s300 shafts

Edel T grind 54 w/Nippon 125 wedge shaft

Fourteen RM-12 58 w/Dynamic Golds400

Axis1 Rose putter, 34 inches

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
