Ping Re-shafting Cost

Called Ping to inquire about re-shafting my I200s and was blown away by the cost. Quoted me $77 dollars per club to install KBS C Taper Lite and $95 per club for Steelfiber 95. Was thinking about replacing the DG S300 until I checked. And that does not include grips! Ouch!

I would expect about $40 per shaft and $20 labor per club. That's a little on the high end. If grips were included, I would say it's about right.

It probably does not include changing the CTP either. If you reshaft with the AWT 2.0 it is only $32.50 per club and that includes one of their stock rubber grips.

 

Their after market reshaft options are on the high side. You are better off ordering them in a new set, that way you will save a few bucks.

Yes. Agree. I will either keep them as is or sell and reorder.

If you are going Non-Ping shafts then you are better off reshafting locally. I paid the $32.50 to reshaft a Ping G30 iron but I went with the CFS Distance Ping Shaft.

Yeah for sure go no OEM unless you really want a specific ping shaft. Although just had a friend do a set of Mizunos through Mizuno and it was only about $150 for all (but they kept the old shafts)

Did he go through a big box store or pro shop? What shaft did he put in and did they do any grip? I have a set I may want to send back especially now if it is only $150.

Does this cost include adjusting the sw? If you have an independent shop do the reshaft, KBS runs about thirty-five each, Steelfiber about fifty, a good grip will be at least eight installed, plus shop charges for doing the job, then back to Ping to adjust the sw. This going to be an expensive project however you do it.

Well...since this is the tech forum I'll say that learning to do the work yourself can save a bunch of dough and provide DYI satisfaction at the same time. Reshafting is not difficult and only requires a few tools. There is a wealth of information showing what to do too, just use google and start reading.

 

Maybe there is a GolfWRX member in your area that has the tools and can show up what to do. I'll gladly help you if you are in my area.
