Suggestions for GI iron set

Just find something nit-picky about the condition and they'll give you a full refund to your payment method after you return them. They're pretty liberal with the condition-based return policy.

 

I just gave them a call, and they say they can apply to a recent order and refund it in whatever form of payment that was used... So looks like I'm ordering some clubs tonight.

I've been reading a little on the I15 irons. Everyone seems to be saying they're made for single digit golfers. I'm not a single digit handicapper. I shoot mid 40's pretty consistently right now so, I'm looking for something to help my game a little bit.

I'd look at them as a halfway point between your MP59s and the G25s you hit... maybe even leaning a little more towards the G25... a little thinner and a little less offset than G25 but still squarely a GI profile, not low-offset thin-topline you have now. The blade length is also nearly as long as the G-series which is a big part of their forgiveness and what makes them more forgiving than the i20 that came after.

Up to a point, JP wonders about the whole efficacy of the GI concept. Given his cynicism these days, he is feeling this whole stuff is mostly marketing to target buyers seeking salvation.

He hits his Hogan blade as well as his Macgregor pcb tour CB and as well as his Srixons ztx. His experimental effort with GI with the Callaway x18 pros back when as confirmation of his view that it's the archer.

At the end of the day, you still gotta put a good strike on the ball....and then there's the whole unrealized expectations dudes have when they consciously. purchase something to alleviate their existing swing errors. But, there they are, still seeing that damn block right slice!!!

Others may have a different experience.

And these by no means have a thick sole or top line... perhaps mid so not blade like but not thick at all. I really think they are perfect for anyone looking for a GI iron.

 

Btw. I totally disagree with the thought they are more SGI... that would be the regular EZ's not the forged.

Thanks for the list Dpav. I'll keep looking through a few different sets but, I really didn't want to spend much more after I either sell mine or trade in. I can get $165-$175 for my set, and I'm hoping to find a decent set for $50 extra or less preferably.

The JPX EZ Forged top lines look EXTREMELY thick in the PW and GW... probably my only real complaint about them.

Thanks! Im going to keep looking. I may bring my clubs down to my local shop to see what he would give for them. I would really like to do everything local to see if I like the clubs I'm getting first but, he just seems a little pricey.

You would probably also like the I25's too I am guessing. I'd check their site on the Bay, they have some sets with make offer and you may be able to make a great deal that way. You can probably call them regarding sets they have listed and see what you can swing trade in and all.

25's are slightly more than I want to pay. But I found a very nice set of I20s I might just grab on Ebay, with all the specs I'm looking for and brand new grips for $190. Problem is I don't think I can just sell my irons to GG or CPO, it has to be a trade-in/store credit.

 

Think I'd have any luck selling my irons on WRX?

I'd think you'd get at least, if not more than, trade in selling your MPs on the BST. If you do just want to trade-in for cash, check out PGA Value Guide or Rock Bottom Golf... valuation will vary and no trade bonus like currently going on at GG, but it's an option. That said, they can both be slow to process and issue payment (2-3 weeks before you have a check in-hand).

 

$190 for i20s is a solid deal, especially if they're the shafts you want and the new grips are something you like as well.

Really? Well I have 4-PW so It would be a 7 club set. If its $165 or more I'd be happy with that. I just worry about shipping. I've never shipped clubs before.

 

BTW, I ended up talking him down to $180 shipped! And I also got 8% back in Ebay bucks so I got another $14 back. $166 for the set I cant complain. Same KBS Stiff Tour Shafts that are on my Mizunos, along with the new grips.

Depending on where you are shipping them usually like 15-25 dollars with insurance as I recall.

 

I'd list them here first and look for a buyer with good feedback and no negative feedback... you will likely get a better price.

Had forgotten but yes you can still pick up a brand new set of the EZ Forged on EB for around 300 bucks delivered.

 

Is that Ebay you're saying? Ordering clubs from Ebay sort of scares me but, I guess if theres a deal.

Just make sure the seller has good reviews. I got my irons from ebay and plan on getting a 915D2 from ebay as well. Just have to wait until one with 9.5* loft and an aldila rouge silver shows up :)
