Tex's wife comes home: "what did you do today?"

Tex: "well, umm, I, well. It's complicated."

Kiddo had a fever so she stayed home today then we had to drop her bosses car off at Andrews.

Busy day..

No worries eagle...thought it would be a long shot to get out for a somewhat early lunch. FTR, we ate at Chuy's. My first time there. Probably the best chain Mexican/texmex food I've had. Of course that list is really short....like 3-4 long, so maybe that compliment isn't so great. Seriously though, I liked it and will certainly go back.

Driver fitting went well. Evan is a really nice guy and really seems to know his stuff. Evidently he owned his own golf shop for close to 20 years.

I wouldn't say I learn anything that really made me rethink my equipment or my swing, but I did pick up a few good tidbits. One, I really hit up on the driver...like 4.5*+. At times I can get some really low spinning knuckle balls. Well, not really knuckle balls but spin in the 11-1200 rpm range, so pretty low. Those weren't common but I did see it more than a couple of times on some less than stellar hits. I also learned, much to my surprise, that I have pretty much maxed out my efficiency. My swingspeed has dropped 5-6 mph since the last time I was fit (2 yrs ago). I was consistently getting smashes very close to 1.5 (and sometimes over, but I'm not really sure how that can happen). He felt the M1 was as good an option as any out right now as it produced fast ball speeds and the sliding tracks allow for some fine tuning (which I need). Had the chance to try some other heads but nothing really interested me. Tried my "new" shaft on a 917D2 and it wasn't nearly as good as the M1.

I won't spoil everything as I'm not sure I have the green light to talk openly about it, but I ended up going with a 70g stiff shaft playing at 44" and a sw of D4. I've been playing 60g xstiff shafts for the past couple of years, and my current driver is 44.25" and D0. Distance and spin were similar between the two shafts but my dispersion was MUCH better with the shorter, heavier, and softer shaft. The "new" shaft also gave me a much more repeatable swing....or at least more predictable results. And the feel of the shaft is very familiar, which was very important to me.

I'm looking forward to getting it out on the course and see if the trackman results show up on the course.

In other news, I feel sorry for people that have to travel 270 or the beltway on a regular basis. Both were parking lots at 2:30p at various spots. It's f'ing 2:30! There shouldn't be traffic jams a time 2:30!

At least he wasn't expected to be running a profitable family business today like Rick was.

If they have the shaft you can talk about it.

All shops have the 2018 equipment and are preordering..

The shaft is out and available but this wasn't something I paid for or got to do through the True Temper test group.

Gotta say... I didn't pick him to make the cut but it's pretty cool that tiger's playing on a weekend again (in a real event). Been a long time.

i've eaten at chuy's. tasty. fresh. nice seleccion of tequilas. didn't get sick. pretty much all you can ask for from a mexican restaurant. glad you liked it. matchbox would have been my other rec.

pretty sweet that you scored a new driver shaft that tightens your shotgun pattern. who says you can't buy a better game? not this guy.

Good to know. My wife didn't realize that it wasn't really that far to get to that area so I can foresee more trips to the area for some shopping. And maybe she won't look at me like I have snakes growing out of my head when I say I'm going to play golf with the superfriends in MD.

And what's up with the MoCo bag tax? While I was getting fit, my wife went shopping. Ended up carrying out an armful of clothes because she didn't want to pay the $0.05 for the bag. You already spent $100+, what's another $0.05...

Every %^*^**^*Fing day. It doesn't matter what time I leave work in Springfield. I get stuck in traffic on the American Legion Bridge and 270.

Fabb’s Abs: (-1)

Eagle’s Seagulls: (-4)

Ash’s Bashes: (-7)

Great day out. Pretty awesome January weather, but the relentless wind made it feel 15* colder. I didn’t dress appropriately at first and paid the price with garbage play on the first 9. TopH went short sleeves/vest and manned it up/hammed it up all day.

Format (best 2 net per group) kept everyone in my group in it for almost every hole. Good winter golf game. We had a couple holes of (-3) and mostly zeros, but too many (+1)s to contend. Lots of good opportunities missed by each of us. No sour grapes tho, the guys in the final group looked like they were playing well and they earned it.

Golf is such a funny game. Every hole is its own little journey into the unknown, where almost anything can happen. We had a few yucks out there today, really good guys to walk the course with. GolferDrew, TopH and MTN and I kept it pretty light. Grinded a bit around the greens as they were a bit rough. Frozen to start, then turned so soft midway through the round. Hard to get a good feel. Longest putt made in our group was 10 feet, on the final hole by MTN.

Still, real good times. Hope we can all do it again soon.

Johnny, the bag tax keeps the MC liquor prices low.* Hopefully you took the time to stop in one and stock up.

*Bag tax is actually there to encourage people to be environmentally friendly and bring reusable bags. Or, in your wife’s case, to walk out with an armful of clothes. :D I just pay the extra .05.
