Worn out Velcro on Scotty Cameron Cover

Has anyone replaced the velcro on a Scotty cover? I found a custom shop headcover that was gamed for 5 bucks but the velcro is just about done. This is a cheap experiment so if I ruin it, I won't be mad about it. Just looking for some direction on this one. Thanks!

If I were to tinker, I'd open up a small slot under the worn velcro and slip in some rare earth magnets instead of replacing velcro.

Replacing velcro is not that big of a deal... you just need a basic sewing kit (needle, heavy thread, and a seam ripper), some military\industrial grade velcro, basic sewing skills and some patience. Just make sure you only sew the velcro to the lining and do not poke the needle through the outside cover.

I had a Stitch mallet cover that the velcro was shot and took it to my local dry cleaners where they do alterations. She put new velcro in for $8.00 and it works better than new.

I just replaced the worn out velcro on the 2008 Ryder Cup cover with magnets used in current magnetic AM&E covers. Couldn't have turned out any better.

Where did you get the magnets and the patch that covers it? Did you just sew them on? Thanks

Yeah, thats a damn good idea. I have 3 or 4 SC covers laying around that I don't use bc I hate the Velcro.

I took apart an AM&E magnetic cover for the parts. I had a few extras from pro shop credit at my old club. Just used a thread ripper to cut the thread out of the sacrificial cover, and then sewed the parts onto the Scotty cover by hand. You just have to be careful to not poke the needle through the outer cover layer. Here are a couple pics of the cover I used for parts.

The AM&E magnetic cover has the magnets aligned horizontally, but I sewed them in vertically because it's a better fit with the shape of the Scotty covers.

As mentioned above, you can get new velcro sewn in for pretty cheap. I had one done for less than $10 by a lady near me that does sewing. I do like the magnets though. The velcro gets annoying.

Did you have to bring in your own velcro?
