I've played 20 of his courses [Grayhawk Raptor, Ventana Canyon Mountain, Ventana Canyon Canyon, Oak Creek, Pelican Hill North, Disney Osprey Ridge, PGA Golf Club Ryder, PGA Golf Club Wanamaker, World Woods Pine Barrens, World Woods Rolling Oaks, Sea Island Seaside, The Glen Club, Belterra, Missouri Bluffs, Pinehurst #8, Karsten Creek, TPC Myrtle Beach, Barton Creek Canyons, Barton Creek Foothills, Butterfield Trail]. 

 

Nothing really blew me away. The best of the bunch included Sea Island Seaside, Barton Creek Canyons, Ventana Canyon Canyon, World Woods Pine Barrens, and The Glen Club. Butterfield Trail was  up there.

 

I generally agree that his designs are solid with few major flaws, but they don't inspire. Can't say I'd hop on a plane to play any of them again tomorrow.

Fazio has designed a bunch of courses in the Bluffton / Hilton Head area.
Both courses in Belfair are terrific tracks.  Same with both courses in Berkeley Hall and both communities have some of the best practice facilities on the East Coast.
He also designed the three 9-hole courses at Callawassie Island down the road and they are excellent.  I'm in Moss Creek and both of our courses were some of Tom's early designs.  He designed our North course in 1978 and before that he partnered with his Uncle George Fazio to design our South course in 1975.  It is considered one of the best courses they designed together.  He also designed several public courses in our area that get a lot of play.
I've always enjoyed his course designs.  Not as flashy as some of Nicklaus or Dye courses but just good, solid layouts.  I think the same of Arthur Hills courses.  Very solid tracks that are fun to play and usually have nice scenery.
