Golf vacation for group of 16

hi everyone, I'm looking for some suggestions for a golf vacation for 16 buddies, ideally driving distance from Dallas area. I know about the bigger resorts like Horseshoe Bay and Barton Creek, but they are a little too expensive for what I am shooting for. I am trying to find somewhere where we can get some basic or shared accommodation, a couple of decent courses nearby with some decent bars / restaurants around.

 

Any thoughts? Appreciate the help!!

Snag an Airbnb and just hit up all the nice SA/Austin area daily fee courses.

 

Quarry, Bandit, Brack, Falconhead, Wolfdance, Vaaler, La Cantera x2, etc

Pine Dunes. Rayburn Country. Coushatta.

 

All decent trips with great value (cheap). Pine Dunes is the best course.

Might be a little light on the nightlife side...but White Bluff has 36 holes of pretty good golf, and hotel rooms or cabins for overnight stays. Haven't been in several years, but was always one of our favorite trips 'locally"

I know the bandit does a stay in play package as well as The Republic Golf Club. They are owned by the same company. They also have a sister course just outside of SATX. I know some people in the company if you want me to ask about rates and what not

We had a blast staying downtown SA. You can get some good rates just off the river and with 16 of you, gives you plenty of options to break off and do your own thing within a small area for nightlife. Howl at the moon is always our favorite.

Another vote here for Pine Dunes. Their unlimited golf stay-and-play packages are pretty good. The only problem is they are 30-40 minutes away from the bars/restaurants in Tyler. They do have a bar/grill on site though. And if you are paying the stay-and play-rate it wouldn't make a ton of sense to stay there and go play any other courses.
