I loved the question that they asked him about cheating. Evidentally, someone took a picture that was showing an apparent incident in which he moved his ball to a favorable lie.

 

On a side note I was lucky enough to have a response letter published in the letters section of this months issue.

Typical gasbag Trump. I've said all along if he's a legitimate single-digit handicap then I'm a plus, LOL. Honestly, I think that's why he fired Carolyn because she was a better golfer than him and he couldn't live with that. He probably is more of a true 18 than a 4 that he lists. Let's not forget, he is a master of vanity. His handicap gives the meaning of "vanity handicap".

 

About his proclamation that Trump National is better than Pebble or Bandon. While I haven't been to Pebble, I played Bandon in May. Trump National looks like a putt-putt course with those stupid waterfalls. Bandon was designed as their slogan says "the way golf was meant to be played" and it is one of my favorite courses. Trump National can't hold a candle to Bandon. I'm sure the same could be said for Pebble.

 

He obviously has issues with those people who are a threat to him. Calling Cuban a loser and stating that no clubhouse could hold Rosie's weight, just show how much of loser he really is in person. I will give him this, when it comes to real estate he is the Tiger Woods. Unfortunately, his act is so old and everyone can see right through him.

While I am not a Trump fan and have yet to play Bandon....I will say this. Trump National blows Pebble away....no it does not have the history Pebble has but for sheer golf it is head and shoulders above Pebble. The layout is fantastic and the codition of Trump National makes Pebble look like a run down muni....and the views at Trump are actually of the Pacific Ocean not just the Bay..

That is why I used the word history.....I have been to a game at Fenway as well as Wrigley field...and yes they are just awesome....that being said, if you walked into Fenway and a game had never been played there and then you walk into AT&T or Safeco what would you think? Pebbles views are incredible but Trump Nationals are better. The conditions are not even comparable...Pebble is a bit run down where Trump is manicured to perfection. The overall experiance at Pebble has been fantastic every time I have played there....but if we are just comparing the actual course and nothing else then I would choose Trump every time....

Again it was just my opinion!!! you obviously have not played golf oversees....The Open courses are manicured to perfection....they just have dormant grass coloring that makes them look beat up.....i am not tring to get into a pissing match, I was just expressing my opinion on 2 courses that I have played several times.....nothing more

Ive played Bandon and I wouldn't call it a "wastleland"...it is testing to say the least, but some of the most beautiful holes I've ever bogeyed. Maybe the Donald could comp me a round so I can make an educated decision...LOL :beruo:

from my understanding the waterfalls are at his westchester course and not on the LA one he is talking about. Could be wrong, but i believe the LA course was designed to compete with bandon and the likes and has a similar feel as far as layout and style

That is not Trump National Los Angeles, that is Trump National WESTCHESTER.

That is Trump L.A. I worked there in 2005. Just before they opened. I have played the course. It is nice. The waterfalls are on holes 1 and 17. They are entirely fake, along with the championship tee box on 18. (Looks like a castle spire, actually built by workers in the middle of the night because the houses across the street said it obstructed their view of the water and got a height restriction placed on the tee box. Trump added 6 feet in the middle of the night to get it up higher.) I don't think the views are all that great, not like Pebble. Pebble has rocky beaches with splashing waves and misty spray. Trump has sea weed forests and about 30% of the time you can make out Catalina island. The rest of the time it is hidden by smog and marine layer. Trump L.A. is a great $150 course if you ask me. Pebble is a good $300 course. I have yet to play Bandon, but I look forward to it. Met a nice caddy from there, hopefully I can get a hook up this summer and play.

 

Trump is what I would call gimmicky. The waterfalls and ocean views all mask the crappy course hidden by eve more beautiful manicuring and Million dollar sand bunkers. The course has to be able to drain, so all the fairways have large bowl shaped drainage areas. You have to pick with drain you want your ball to end up in, take a drop off the drain about 40% of the time, and play from there. You could play that course 18 times and it would be the exact same shot 12 times, unless you aim for a different drainage area. There is hardly any rough. There is about 8 feet of rough on each side of the massively wide fairways and then it's nature preserve area. The course is nestled on the side of the PV hill and you can't feel the wind up in the air. So all your shots into the wind must add 1 club and all shots down wind need 1 less. But you just have to remember, because you can't feel the wind.

 

BTW, who cares if the view is of a bay or of the ocean? It's all the same salt water.

 

I say play Trump once for $200 or whatever it is on the weekdays, maybe do a twilight in the middle of summer for under $150. There is hardly ever anyone on the course because it is so ridiculously overpriced. Once you play it, you will be good. Save your money for something else.

Golf Magazine did a little one page article with The Donald talking about how to act on the course with your boss with you...really great stuff. I still follow a lot of his tip to this day.

$145 for a round on the 'PINNACLE' of golf - must be a bargain!!

That's £72 at the moment over here. Due to living in Fife i got on Kingsbarns for £4 less, add on my bacon roll and coffee before it and i paid the same. I know what one i'd choose!!

 

Gibby, Open courses are manicured to prefection when it's open time. but because of all the golf tourism (especially St Andrews) they become pretty tatty by the end of a season.

 

Forgot to ask, has he taken his 'Greatest Golf Course in the World' to Ireland yet? Or is the stupid farmer still beating him down? :black eye:

his course in westchester is terrible. there are plenty of private clubs in westchester that are better than the crap he built. are his courses in great condition? yes. are they always good golf courses? no

 

that being said, i've heard the course in new jersey is fantastic.
