haven't tried them myself but just the fact that they are ~30+ gm lighter then the steel version means they will perform VERY differently. If the c-taper lite's in your signature are a good fit, the LZ graphites will very likely be too light for you. The Recoil 110's would likely be a better option.

My impression may not be worth much since I don't have a lot of experience playing different shafts, but I chose them for my MP 18s after trying a bunch of steel and graphite. Coming from KBS Tour90 stiff, I wound up with the LZ graphite in reg. I was interested in graphite anyway to be easier on my body, but they made a D2 SW possible at +1", and felt very solid, very pleasant feeling strike, a lot of harshness removed from mishits but not vague feeling at all. I got my best distance and dispersion with them, but of course your results may differ. I gather that they are meant to compare to the steel performance-wise, but I can't confirm that never having played the steel. And I understand that some players react negatively to lighter shafts but I'm not one of them, so i'd say they're worth a try, maybe one for a test club if there's no fitter nearby.

I've hit them extensively. They are lower launch and spin than Recoil. PX claims that it has the same ballflight and spin as the PX LZ line, just in a lighter weight category, and I believe it. These perform very well. Yes they are lighter, but a few mphs of extra swing speed is never a bad thing if you can control it. I am leaning extensively to these this year in some MP-18 MMC Fli Hi/MMC combos or Hot Metals. I sold some to a guy who swung his 6i at 93mph and he hit them perfectly in the target window of launch and spin we were looking for, and picked up a few mphs over his KBS Tour 90 stiffs.

It's a good shaft that performs well for guys at a slightly stronger swing speed. For people that swing a bit faster, lighter shafts tend to get "lost" and they become erratic, but it doesn't seem to be the case with this one. I've seen some fantastic numbers with this shaft from people who swing 70 mph, to people who swing over 90mph. I highly recommend it, however, it might not work for you, so make sure you try it before you buy it.

I play the LZ tour graphite 5.0 in a set of Hot Metals plus just added a 5 Fli Hi (but do to Midwest Weather not yet tested the Fli Hi). Have the LZ steel version in same flex in a set of 900 Forged. My experience has been the ball flight has been the same but maybe just a touch softer feel over the steel counterpart. I have actually mixed my set with 4, 6, 8, PW Hot Metal LZ graphite and 5, 7, 9 900 Forged LZ steel and played a few rounds just for the fun of it. No gapping issues and very similar ball flight. Prior set was Ping I20's with Recoil 95's in R flex for several years. For me ball flight was similar with a slight distance advantage to Mizuno's with similar loft/length iron; of course that probably is the advancement of technology. Again that's what I've experienced off my swing. I typically have a high ball flight.

The other thing is I prefer the LZ's over the Recoils, and I still love the Recoils; for me the LZ's have a better feel. But as mentioned earlier try first; we're all different.

Sorry, which Recoils did you compare them to? Last time I checked, there were 11 different versions of the recoils.

I compared them against the standard Recoil 95 (non-prototype) that comes in the Mizuno fitting cart.

I was fitted for the Mizuno PXJ 919 Hot Metals with the Project X LZ 4.0 graphite shafts. Went to order only to discover that shaft is no longer offered by Mizuno. Sounds like the Project X LZ graphite shaft will no longer be an issue for discussion. Contacted the Mizuno factory and was told they switched to the Recoil shaft exclusively for more durability.
