I need to kill some time this afternoon, 6/22/18 while my daughter and her friends are at Warped Tour at Qualcomm Stadium. I'll be dropping them there at about 11:00 and should have time for a round before needing to pick them up.

 

Any suggestions for a decent public course reasonably close?

Riverwalk is going to be the closest. Probably reasonably priced, but all 3 of the courses are in horrible shape. Maybe balboa park

Riverwalk, Balboa, and Admiral Baker I think would be the closest.

Admiral baker is 10 minutes away. Closest you’ll find.

I agree, Admiral Baker (North course) would be a fun option right down the street from the Q.

 

Balboa is fairly close too. Riverwalk is also really close but the conditions have been very lackluster for over a year since they announced the housing development project.

 

Man, Warped Tour. I didn't know they're still running that concert series. I remember going to one of the first ones 20 years ago either there at the Q (Jack Murphy) or at the Sports Arena with Blink 182 and Pennywise headlining. After checking the lineup for today about the only band I recognize and would love to see again live is Unwritten Law, another awesome punk band from Poway, CA (CPK - crazy Poway kids). Glad to see them performing shows again. Cool.

 

Hope your wife and daughter have fun at the concert and you get some good birdies in today! Hit 'em well!

What about street scene? Remember that !!!

I didn’t recommend baker because it’s always been difficult for me to get a time there as a civilian before like 3pm

But it is the closest to the Murph

Yeah, Street Scene was cool too! I'm gonna hit up that Ye Scallwag festival at Waterfront Park this year. Lineup includes Pennywise, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, The Vandals, Lagwagon, Strung Out, The Adolescents, Western Settings.

Admiral Baker was great advice. Thanks. I had a great day. Dropped my daughter and her friend off at 11:30, and was on the course by 12:30. I walked the South Course, then got a $20 replay on the North course, with a cart. On the second 18 I Got joined up with a couple of young active duty Navy gentlemen with great attitudes. Carts had to be in by 8:00, and we finished at 7:55. I picked up the girls at 8:15 and we were on the way home. Couldn't have worked out better. The greens on the North were punched, but otherwise both courses were in good, but not perfect, shape. Really great day.

Hahaha when I was listening to these bands I swore I would never take up golf until I was 60. Love punk especially Socal bands. Huge Face to Face fan here.

^Nice. Same here. See you're in Chicago, love Screeching Weasel and 88 Fingers Louie. Been lucky enough to have seen both of them here in the last couple years. I hope they come back soon.

Love those two bands. We have a great scene here too. Some real cool smaller venues too.
