Ping tour 65 vs alta 55 shaft

You're not the only person that has wondered that. I bought a G400 Max (used) with the Alta CB 55 R-Flex about a month ago and my first instinct on swinging it was that the shaft felt really whippy and weak-to-flex. My driver swing speed is about 98 mph and I have always used regular flex shafts. I am coming from the 2016 M2 with the Fujikura Pro 50-R and the Alta CB 55-R seems much less stable.

 

After gaming it for 5 rounds now, I have observed that I am good for about 1 double-crosser that I lose left each round, so I am looking to explore stiffer options because I've never had an issue with the lefts with driver before and I'm growing suspicious.

I’ve been gaming  a G400 Max for years with the Alta CB 55 stiff shaft. Also play the G400 3 wood in Alta cb 65 stiff shaft. I have a 105 swing speed, 8 hcp.  Recently went for a fitting a got fit into a Tensei AV white 65.  Huge difference in weight and trajectory.  I’m now thinking if I should be reshafting my Max + 3 wood with something slightly heavier for those times I’m swinging on the more aggressive side with quicker transition.  What I’ve realized is that the lighter shaft actually forces me to slow down and have smoother tempo, which is what we all want anyway right?   But at same time I know heavier shaft will give me better dispersion and ball flight.  Feel like I’m in a pickle here.  Anyone have any suggestions?   Thanks in advance.

i have a g sftec with alta shaft, went too high, looked impressive then just dropped out of the sky with no roll. tried the alta CB out of g400and still felt too loose.got tour 65, felt great still high trajectory even after lowering sleeve to 9 deg, ....sf tec head cracked, got g30 9 degree and put it in my tour 65 shaft ....bingo   good dispersion mid trajectory and gteat roll out with baby draw, this whole journey took 2 years. sometimes you just get lucky
