Ping Glide 2.0 TS grind - Anything similar?

Recommended Posts

I have been playing the Ping TS grind (58*) for quite a while (i think since the Rustique wedges but can’t remember exactly) it’s great around the green and is my go to bunker club. The only complaint i have is I have trouble flighting it down when i need to, especially on full to nearly full swings (over 75%)

My wedges are starting to get worn and I want to try some new wedges, is there anything out there that is similar grind? Vokey L (I have never liked the M)? Cleveland RTX 4 low? Or anything else I am missing. Just looking for suggestions on wedges to try. It’s been a while since I have even thought about switching.

X-Low or Low. I have looked at them but haven’t hit it them yet.

Another thing to consider is if the low bounce is causing higher launch and slightly lower spin if strike is moving up a couple of grooves. I tried out a Vokey F grind 54 with S400 earlier this year. The extra bounce made it launch lower and spin more. Also look up "tiger stepping" wedge shafts on here. Another way to increase spin and lower launch.

I completely understand where you are coming from on the bounce but I have been playing the same grind for 9 years and before that I always played lower bounce wedges (6-8*), and haven’t had much of an issue. The tiger stepping is something I have thought about.

X-Low. The Low is just your basic C-Grind like the Vokey L and M. The X-Low is like a low bounce V-Grind which is what I consider the TS wedge to be.

@dciccoritti thanks for all your input. Quick question since I have gone down this rabbit hole of wedge grinds. I saw you mention the TM Hi-Toe ATV in another thread. How does It compare to the Ping TS? I liked the original ATV wedge but it never made the bag, it seemed pretty versatile

Have you found any similar grinds?

I have a PING Glide 2.0 Stealth TS that I want to replace but the new TS grind on the Glide 3.0 is not the same at all. I have an RTX4 xLow as well but I don't feel that it's the same as the TS.

How does the Vokey V grind compare?

I haven’t found anything similar yet, I would like to try the T grind from Vokey because it does have a lot of forward bounce similar to the TS, I have not tried the V grind.  I do have the 3.0 TS and feel like it plays pretty similar for me.  That being said I did  like the 2.0 better, I think a lot of that has to do with the size, 2.0 is much smaller.

I was talking to a PING rep the other day. He said the 2.0 TS was based on the half moon grind and the 3.0 TS is similar to the SS but with a bounce grind.

PING WRX department does offer custom grind option for like an extra $20, so I might try to get a half moon grind on Glide 3.0.

How do you find the 3.0 TS? Any big differences compared to the 2.0 TS in terms of playability and address?

Glide 2.0 and 2.0 Stealth TS is fairly unique in that there doesn't seem to be much out there like it - the 3.0 didn't do it but those wedges in general didn't do it because they are rather large for some reason.  I hope Ping's new iteration goes back to a more normal size.  I barely practice with my Stealth's because I don't want to wear them out before a hopeful new version comes out.

I agree I hope they go back to a smaller more traditional size wedge. I feel like the 2.0 and 3.0 soles play very similar but I like the smaller size of the 2.0. I loved my stealth’s!! I can’t quite say that about my 3.0s.

I would live to try a Vokey T grind but have a hard time spending $200 for something I may not like

The perfect Glide 4.0 wedge would be the 8620 cast with shape, soles, and size of 2.0, the ctp port of 3.0 but in a RAW finish......

One of the biggest selling points of the GLIDE wedge is the hydropearl finish which helps retain spin in wet conditions.

No chance the move away from that

The Glide 2.0 Stealth has a black finish that wears to raw.
