As a rotation major, it now is likely to be held at new venues in the south. Not only that, the timing in May gives it more clout. It’s no longer the last and letdown major. It could never compare to the other three, so moving it from last in the year gives it more interest. Then too this elevates The Open to its rightful place as the last and granddaddy of them all.

But I thought you liked trees. Oakmont??

Next years event will be fun. If I had the cash I would love to go back to NYC area for a visit. Westchester in the 80’s was loud and obnoxious relative to the day and imo it only added to the fun. The cliche shouts get old but overall people just need to chill. Because you can walk freely through the grounds golf is just set up for that type of atmosphere. The days of golf being contested in a library are over. Embrace it.

There is a massive difference between the type of noise most golf fans would appreciate and the self serving-or is that over served- obnoxious yelling you are seeming to endorse.

Really all I have to compare live is the Houston Open. I think 2014 was the last time I went.

> The argument for Pebble isn't so much the course (which is nice) but the weather. Hot & humid isn't really ideal for a major. And everything East of Colorado is hot & humid in June. Now, if you had the U.S. Open in mid-September every now and then the East and Midwest would be superb. Yeah it would step on the Fedex Cup and so forth but I'm sure there's a workaround.

My recollection is that there have been some rather chilly US Opens in the Northeast.

US Open week in Buffalo, NY 2019 (close to Rochester): highs - Monday 78, Tuesday 70, Wednesday 80, Thursday 66, Friday 70, Saturday 72, Sunday 65.

New York: highs - Monday 71, Tuesday 77, Wednesday 73, Thursday 62, Friday 73, Saturday 75, Sunday 75.

Come to think of it, the weather last week in Cromwell CT was quite nice as well.

I don't like the idea, although I'd be thrilled if the Pro-Am was removed from the Tour schedule.

I do think that I could get on board with both the US Open and PGA going to a rotation system similar to the Open. I wouldn't mind a rotation of say:

Pebble, Oakmont, Pinehurst #2, Shinnecock, Winged Foot, Merion, Medinah, Oakland Hills, Inverness, Olympic Club, Quail Hollow, Chicago.

And a PGA rotation of: Bethpage, Kiawah Ocean, Valhalla, Baltusrol, Firestone, Hazeltine, Southern Hills, Congressional, Riviera, Atlanta, Pacific Dunes, Spyglass Hill.

Add or subtract as you like, and swap around for weather. I really didn't put too much thought into this. Just thinking that a rotation of 8-12 courses for each of those could cover a lot of the great courses in the US and would eventually lead to some familiarity with the courses. Over the decades, new courses could be added if they are constructed, or if some courses that haven't been able or haven't chosen to host in the past somehow became viable (I would love to see a major at National Golf Links, for instance).
